Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel checked in with Brewers GM Doug Melvin and it doesn't sound like the club is closing in on a first base solution. "It's pretty quiet," said Melvin. "We know all the names. It's a small group. Nothing changes from one day to the next. Ike Davis is the one player people talk about. Other than that, there's not much available." Haudricourt also asked Melvin about Rangers' first baseman Mitch Moreland, but Melvin says that at last check, Texas said they won't move him.

Bad news..... Looks like Moreland is DH next year. I was hoping for Morales.

Until Morales reduces his demands he's going to stay on the market for a while, a strict DH with a draft pick attached to him isn't that valuable.

I guess the plan is to wait on choo and Cruz and leave Moreland at DH. Unless the report is wrong

They might end up moving Mitch, but can't right now. It seems like we could get a decent return for him because there's a few teams interested. I'd hate for us to trade him and then he starts hitting the ball like he was last year before he got hurt.
We've had that happen with 1B in the past. JD may be reluctant to trade him for that reason.
