I've read that his ceiling his that when he spots his fastball he's as good as a decent number 1 and when he has average command he's a good number 2. But his most likely spot in the rotation will be 3

JD said they won't trade for a good starting pitcher. So when he was talking to the rays a couple weeks ago, perhaps thats why they stopped. They just didn't fit. Maybe my friend was right about LJ or Perez. The rays wouldnt do the deal without one of them and JD thinks both of them are untouchable

I agree in that we cannot give up any of our young pitchers. I just hope we don't have the injuries that hit us like they did last year.

This is baseball. Pitching my friend. St Louis and San Fran ring any bells?

we had pitching last year and even with that we lost a minimum of 12-15 games because we couldn't even score a single run. you have to some offense and that lower batting order is pretty pathetic. even worse than last year

Back to baseball...

Just to give you even more evidence of what a laughable joke the Angels front office is, they are now focusing on acquiring Tyler Skaggs from Arizona for Mark Trumbo. Yes, the same Tyler Skaggs they traded away to Arizona in 2010 along with Joe Saunders and Patrick Corbin for Dan Haren. Assuming the trade does happen, the final trade ledger for those 2 teams reads:

DBacks- 2 years of Saunders, 2 years of Skaggs, Corbin, Trumbo

Angels- 2 years of Haren

They essentially gave away Patrick Corbin and Mark Trumbo for free. Imagine if they hadn't gutted their team of their youth and traded for and signed a bunch of overrated bums and rentals. Hell, allow them the CJ Wilson overspend even. Their team would be:

Weaver
Corbin
Wilson
Saunders
Skaggs

C- Napoli
1B- Trumbo
2B- Kendrick
SS- Segura
3B- ?????
LF- Trout
CF- Bourjos
RF- Hunter
DH- Calhoun

Not signing Pujols and Hamilton and not trading for Wells would have given them TONS of money to buy a top 3B, another top SP, maybe a reliever, AND retain Hunter and Napoli. That team would be AL West favorites.

Thank God Arte Moreno and Tony Reagins are/were greedy idiots.

good post

Rangers, Diamondbacks vying for Shin-Soo Choo at the moment - CBSSports.com

If you believe all this stuff they are throwing out. Damn I hate that mystery team BS

probably because it seems like that mystery team is in there driving up the price, or that mystery teams signs the player

I wonder about the SF Giants...

I want Choo dammit!!!!!!
Maybe we hear something today, someone reported Choo does not want to wait and didn't talks get to a "critical level"...of course Boras may make him, if Boras doesn't like the price because it's not utterly absurd

I guess the Phillies are ready to start over. Willing to listen to trades for Lee and Hamels.

I do think the Bears were the inferior team and so did a lot of people and Vegas. Our defensive scheme was garbage. The offensive scheme is always garbage. The Eagles are going to be 2 games up going into that last week. This should finally get Garrett and his predictable offense out of here.

Vegas sets betting lines to get equal number of bets on both sides of the game, not necessarily bc they think one team is better than the other.

Good point. They want as a few people winning as possible.

No one wants to give up any decent pitching, (they might be looking for someone with a '2' or '3' status,) maybe that's what they are expecting for him

just a total guess

And that talented pitcher will need to be fairly cheap. I think LAA really wants to avoid the luxury tax. Never gonna win the offseason pinching pennies.

dbacks are going to pay 153 mill for Choo? That's what Boras wants.

no way. Maybe some 'mystery team will', but who's left with that kind of money.
The Yanks, no, Dodgers no, Tigers maybe...but at that price, I think no way for the Tigers too.

No way does Choo sniff anything near 153 million, I don't buy it. The teams stupid enough to do it, sans maybe the Mariners are out
