I hope to never see that deer in the headlight look from Feliz when in a tough moment. Can be tough closing in those situations for a young player.

Exactly. Agree 100%. It seems some here who think Neftali will just step right into Nathan's shoes with no drop off have managed to forget Game 6 of the 2011 World Series. I know I haven't forgotten it.

It's a bit of a stretch to say Fielder's bat is far, far better than Kinsler's. Their batting averages and on-base percentages are quite similar. Fielder does hit twice as many HR's but he also strikes out twice as often. There's also the position factor. Kinsler's production for a 2B is on par with Fielder's for a 1B. Sure Fielder is the overall more dangerous and productive hitter and it for sure is an upgrade. But the gap between the two isn't as dramatic as you're making it out to be.

Also, I have no problem with the losses the team has incurred, as those players are replaceable for sure. But therein lies my problem with saying that the offseason has been a success so far. Those players, even the mediocre Lindblom, haven't been replaced. You can't lose decent players and just not replace them. That's why I disagree with the notion that the Rangers are fine standing pat at the Winter Meetings and just rest on their "success so far". At the very least JD needs to spend the next few days laying the groundwork for 1-2 big additions, whether through signings or trades.

I think Fielder's bat is going to beyond flourish here. Maybe it's me putting too much hope on that but him playing in this park in the summer is a scary thought for opposing pitchers. But like I stated before I don't think they're completely done but I do think so far this off season has been a success IMO.

Okay guys I'm here. JD hasn't met with any FA's yet, but he has called a couple of different teams.

White Sox are willing to trade a starter. Sale would cost us too much. But i like Quintana and he is just 24.

Sounds like things are much more active than last year with teams making it known that certain players are available already. Last year was slow.

Nathan didnt resemble himself when he came back the year after TJ, but was lights out 2 years removed from surgery. Feliz will be 2 years removed from TJ this season. I know it's not guaranteed, but reports expect him to be fully recovered.

He might be healthy, but that does nothing to guarantee that he steps right into the closer's role and the team doesn't suffer. It's not some guaranteed easy transition like you make it out to be. Letting Nathan walk was the right call, given the other options we have to close. But you can't just treat it as if it's not a loss. The bullpen should be fine, but the fact remains that it is 1 solid pitcher more shallow than before. It's a subtraction, just as Gentry, Lindblom, and Cruz are. Even if those subtractions aren't major, they still do subtract from the team's overall depth. Additions are needed to recover that depth. They haven't happened yet (key word: yet), so I don't think the offseason can be labeled a success so far.

I think that's unfair to put that on Feliz. He looked pretty damn comfortable in game 6 of 2010

But, to each his own

Also hearing that LAD would absorb around 20 million for kemp. Maybe we can drive it up more

Still willing to trade Elvis eh?

That would move Profar to SS and Odor to 2B. I'm not sure Odor is MLB ready though...

I'm not believing this until I see it. When rosenthal tweeted that I asked my friend and he said there was no shot

I think we are on the same page here, just looking at the situations from different perspectives. I agree that Fielder should flourish and I too see him as a big masher here. I'm super excited about that potential upgrade. And I agree that the guys we've let go are either replaceable or were the right calls to let go. You are looking at the Fielder acquisition and the "plan" being on track and labeling it a success so far. I am looking at it as a solid start with Fielder but not much else having been done to replace the losses or upgrade the offense as much as it needs to be so far.

Regardless of how we both see the offseason so far, I think we're in agreement of what the end results need to be.
