I think the 8 year contract is not flying anymore with the 'older' players

No disrespect to Cano, he's a beast.
No, I think 5-6 years/ 150-170

I'll probably be wrong

I'm almost positive Cano will get 7-8 years. I could be wrong.

I understand, but short of a trade I'm not sure I see adding another bat in addition to choo. So the question becomes choo or Beltran/Cruz?

That really is a tough one for me. I think Beltran & Cruz would be cheaper and it certainly deepens our order. That combo leaves us without a true leadoff hitter though. Choo is the better defensive option by far, but Nelly & Beltran would add 40+Hr's to the order.

I know, one blink and Pats take over...Denver looks lost
Dangit, now I can't turn it off, and I have a couple things to do before bed.

I absolutely hate trans from the New York/New England area and the patriots are no exception.

Let's say we sign Beltran and not choo. This is my order.

RF Rios
SS Andrus
LF Beltran
3b Beltre
1b/dh Fielder
1b/dh Moreland
C Soto
2b Profar
CF Martin

Thoughts?

I don't think there's any chance that Wash puts Rios in the leadoff spot, but I wouldn't hate Rios in the #2 spot depending on the signings. I never really thought about Rios in the leadoff spot, but it's worth a try. No reason not to see if it works.

The guy sees pitches, and had a little pop, and plenty of speed. Sadly, wash wouldn't do it.

He also does the same thing that EA is good at. Hitting behind the runner. EA and Rios could be great as 1,2 if EA would start to produce in the lead off spot.

gets mighty slow after Beltran, who isn't horribly slow by any means. I'd prefer Rios at 5, but yeah..without Choo, lead-off is a tough call

You could switch profar and Soto. Does that help?

With that said, the question becomes Beltran or Choo?

I like Beltran only if it means we sign Cruz as well. Choo almost prohibits any other moves I think?

How do we sign Beltran and Cruz with only one spot available in the outfield? Both will want to play defense.

I think Cruz is probably going elsewhere, I'm pretty much counting him out at this point.
