I agree that giving him that extension definitely shows that they are on the same page and the Doc will be given a fair shot. The question, in my mind, is what does Ballmer consider a "fair shot"? The man paid about 3 times the actual value of the team, has a very talented roster with a good mix of young guys and vets.

I understand your point about me judging by Lakers standards and you by Clippers standards, but what are Ballmer's standards? He's not part of the Clippers past, nor the Lakers.

Just for sake of argument, suppose 3 years from now, the Clippers still have a very talented roster, but still haven't reached the finals? Does Ballmer start looking at the coach? The Clippers kind of remind of where the Lakers were just before they brought in Phil Jackson. A very talented roster that couldn't get past the 2nd round.

I saw this post right before my class started and couldn't wait to reply. My instructor is such a jackass. He makes us actually put our phones on his desk at the start of exams so that we don't cheat.

I'm like, Dude, this is Loma Linda University not El Camino Community College.

I don't think Doc's contract would save him in this situation.

Seriously, eating that contract is like springing for dinner for a party of 6 for a guy like Ballmer.

They clearly don't have a great roster this year, especially at the 3.

They will be good. But, not contenders.

How long will that be acceptable when you coughed up 2 billion is any ones guess.

Well, anyone not the Spurs.

The Thunder plague of injuries has changed the whole dynamic in the West.

The Griz, Rockets, Mavs, Warriors, Clippers could all make the WCF.

Wouldn't rule out Portland either.

These teams are all very close, talent wise.

I think the Warriors are more likely if they keep playing the way they have been.

But, there is very little separation in the teams that I think will finish Teams 3-7 .
