With his fastball and slider all he needs to be able to do with the change up is locate it and throw it for strikes. It doesn't have to be a plus pitch.

its not even an effective pitch, thats why people just wait for the fastball

Then tired out in the 2nd half. We need more guys that u can pitch out there for a good start every time out. MOre consistent.

"We need more guys that u can pitch out there for a good start every time out".

Okay. More guys that are good every start out. Good idea. But there isn't anyone who is good every start.

Ogando was 1 year out of the Dominican League and was given a rotation spot the last day of camp 2011 when Feliz went out. He then went out and went 7-0 ... and as a first year starter was an AS, went 13-8 ... on a roster where the #1 was only 3 wins and 1 loss better (16-7) and they went to the WS.

Ogando is more reliable than an unnamed #5 or 2012 Derek Holland.

Yes, but if he starts a conditioning program now he should be able to pitch deeper into the season. Remember he didn't come into ST as a starter. He's also learned a change up since then. His stuff is electric.

His fastball is only good. From what i saw

I'd like to sign Greinke to a 6 year 130mil and Haren to 1 year 8mil plus incentives. Then we could keep Ogando in the pen. How Awesome would it be to take 2/5 of the Angels rotation! Haren had a good 2nd half and I bet he returns to form so he can get a big contract.

im glad about the ogando news......it sets our rotation(strategy wise),gives him all off-season to get ready and allows JD to concentrate on finding one more SP for the 5th spot

it makes a sense to finalize this now so we can have a plan for the off-season roster changes

I am fine with them declaring Ogando will be in the rotation, it will be cheaper to replace his bullpen spot than to overpay a ton for a guy other than Greinke who will probably put up similar numbers to Ogando anyway....it is sounding like Greinke is their #1 target for pitching, he would be a nice complement to Darvish, I am fine with signing him, but I really dont view him as a legit ace. He is more of a #2 or maybe a #1B to me but he is definitely an upgrade over our guys after Darvish.

I'd laugh at Hamilton, but I never thought Pujols and Prince would both break $200M+ either.

Wonder who will be the team that signs him, someone will give him 7 years. For some reason I feel that he ends up in BWI.

other than the Rangers, the other teams that have been linked to him seem to be Atlanta, Baltimore and Milwaukee. the only one i see having any actual interest is Milwaukee

The braves are the only team with a big enough market to fork over that kind of dough IMO.
