This "thought/idea" makes me feel something in my pants....

Baseball Time in Arlington: A Texas Rangers Blog - Forum - ElvisAndrus*Hypotheticals

Darvish.
Price.
Greinke.
Harrison.
Holland.

Colby back mid-season.

For that scenario....I would trade Elvis. And on that note, I would be "ok" with signing Greinke.

i think we can get Price but i don't see Tampa being interested in a 1-year rental of Elvis. i would think they will ask for Profar because they will have control over him for multiple years.

instead i offer Perez, Buckel, Odor, Garcia & Brinson

If they traded Elvis this offseason they'd get two years of Elvis. Tampa can't afford to resign Elvis or price so it wouldn't really matter.

sorry you are correct but Tampa has a history of trading away players for prospects that they can control for multiple years. they don't take on players thru trades that are just future trouble spots.

i see Elvis more as mid-season trade possibility going to someone like the Phillies or the Dodgers

Outside of kemp, kershaw, or ethier I'm not sure the dodgers have anyone who would interest me.

You don't trade Buckel AND Perez in that scenario, you find other talent to round out the deal

Sardinas would be a nice piece maybe throw in a Wilmer Font, Justin Grimm, or Neil Ramirez

The Rangers have hired Red Sox hitting coach Dave Magadan to be their hitting coach, reports WEEI.com's Rob Bradford. Texas has since confirmed the hire.

Yep... and everyone thought TEX wanted him at the deadline last year ... and then surprised everyone trading for Adams. Bell was a bust for MIA this year ... and is projected to be setup for ARI next. Wouldn't be surprised to see that he's done.

Someone here is bound to be proposing a trade by ARI to TEX in the off season because they know his name and career numbers.

While I wouldn't want him, I could see why someone still might. Lost in the terrible start he had to 2012 is the fact he put up a 3.10 ERA and a 1.24 whip after the all star break. He also struck out nearly a batter per inning all season long (59 K's in 63.2 innings). He'll be primarly pitching in the 7th and sometimes 8th according to the article linked below, and few people would know him better than current Arizona GM (and past San Diego GM) Kevin Towers.

$10mil seems a bit steep to be spending on a 7th inning guy ...
