So I don't think 56 is going to be high enough to draft Moncrief. :(

I also don't think the 6th & 7th round picks have much of a chance to make the team. At the same time, with all the depth in this draft I think a lot of teams will want to trade down. That's why I hope the Niners package some later picks to jump ahead of the Jets & Ravens to get Moncrief. I think he could easily replace Crabtree in 2015.

Maybe trade up with Dallas again.

Hey Bingo do you still think Ha Ha & Pryor are as good of prospects as Eric Reid after the combine? 'Cause they've both cemented my dissenting opinion.

Random fact: Eric Reid's 10 yard time is the same as Bradley Roby & Jason Verrett's times at 9 & 14 more pounds respectively. Reid's time would've tied for the top 10 yard time if he were in the 2014 draft.

Ok I've decided what priority #1 needs to be in this draft...

GET DOMINIQUE EASLEY IN A 49ER UNIFORM!

Why? Because the guy is out of his mind. He's the Jim Harbaugh of D-linemen. He's so friggn' manic at the line of scrimmage his enthusiasm is going to become contagious. The Niners need more of that on the team. They have a nasty attitude with JSmith, but I don't see anyone really taking that torch when he retires.

The Niners need this guy IMO. Tank doesn't strike me as a type A kind of alpha male. Dorsey could develop into that kind of guy, but he's in a contract year. RayMac is a good veteran presence, but I don't know that he's as vocal & outgoing as Easley.

If the Niners can get both Stephon Tuitt & Dominique Easley in this draft the D-line will be set for at least couple of years, and that's got to be the absolute top priority IMO. Keep the D-line strong!

Welp, Justin Gilbert is completely out of reach right now (my #1 CB). Bradley Roby (my #2 CB) would be a nice consolation prize if we went the DB route, but he might not be there either.

Matthews, Gilbert, and Roby are three of the top guys I wanted in the first.

Gilbert is my number guy. I just think that our coaching staff can work wonders with this kid. This is total opposite of what we have experienced over the years in developing WRs. Unlike the wide receiver position, our coaches have done an amazing job in developing our young defensive backs (especially corners) since the days of Shawnte Spencer. We ought to applaud them for that  imagine what they can do with a player who is already blessed with rare physical skills that warrants a first round pick? Gilbert is in my top 10 overall ranking surpassing Anthony Barr. If we could somehow land this kid, we are set for years on defense with Reid back there to help out.

Hell yeah!!!

Calvin Pryor - DB - Cardinals

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said Louisville's Calvin Pryor is "a bigger version of Bob Sanders."

High praise indeed from the respected evaluator, who ranks Pryor as his top safety prospect. Though Pryor manned free safety for the Cardinals, Mayock believes he possesses the versatility to handle strong as well. Pryor "flies to the football, and he's always around the football," said Mayock. NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah respects Pryor's physical play: "Every tape you put in, you see violent collisions."

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix - DB - Crimson Tide

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock believes Alabama S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is the "prototype free safety in this draft."

Clinton-Dix ranks second on Mayock's list of safety prospects, following Louisville's Calvin Pryor. The analyst said Clinton-Dix is comfortable anywhere on the field, including in the slot. "There are some teams who think he can play corner," Mayock said. Rotoworld prefers Clinton-Dix to the Louisville product.

Sick, a couple of pages back you responded to my post about moving up to get a WR by saying that you wanted to move back. Now you want to trade up? Not being combative, just trying to follow the logic.

Oh I meant trade back from 30 not 56. The meat of the draft is gonna be in the mid 2nd to early 3rd IMO. Amazing value there from what I can tell right now.

Johnny Manziel - QB - Player

ESPN's Ron Jaworski wouldn't draft Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel "in the first three rounds."

"I'm not crazy about him, to be honest with you," Jaws said of the potential No. 1 overall pick. "I've only looked at five games. I wouldn't take him in the first three rounds. That's my opinion. It's incomplete right now. But he has not done a whole lot to me." Jaws is known for his strong — and often accurate — opinions on quarterbacks, but it's surprising he'd go to the extreme of calling Manziel a day-three pick. Manziel has the potential to be one of the most dissected and over-analyzed prospects in draft history.

Huh?

Every top QB in every draft is dissected and analyzed from every angle. That's kind of an empty thing to say.

I don't have many "dislikes" in this draft, but here are a few of 'em post-combine:

David Yankey
Deone Bucannon. And it's not just because of how he spells Deone .
Clinton Dix. Not as good as advertised IMO.
Darqueze Dennard. He's good, but not #2 CB off the board good IMO.
Derek Carr. Just don't think he's any good. I'd take a flyer in the later rounds, but the fact that he's being talked about as a first round pick sounds like Christian Ponder 2.0

How many guys who were projected in the top-30 going into this week have fallen out of it? Seems like most of the guys who were highly regarded going into the combine performed well.

I woul feel confident in saying Rashede Hageman would qualify for this statement

random quick thought.. just came to this comparison and "may" apply..

Rashede Hageman = Calais Campbell?

inconsistent motor, high physical upside, potential early second round pick it appears

it's a definite possibility at least in my opinion. I think with how well they performed at this combine a lot of teams will feel confident with their floor/ceiling combination. Also with the emphasis on the passing game a lot of NFL teams could be in the mode to expand the offensive system.

I do agree it is a lot and I wouldn't necessarily feel strongly about it breaking down like this, but I feel stronger about these possibilities than I do about Cooks/Mathews/ODB/Lee being 2nd round picks.

At this point, it's hard to see Lee going that high. His numbers weren't bad, per se, but they weren't nearly as good as lots of other guys who also have on-field production.

I don't disagree, but I think Kelly would be interested in building stock in the position with pending FA's in Maclin/Cooper in the next year or two. Also, it was the year he was up in Oregon that Lee was at this best, may have partial memory...

I feel confident that Cooks/Lee will be gone within the Eagles/Chiefs picks..

Latest SI Mock:

30. San Francisco 49ers (12-4): Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State.

The 49ers might lose Anquan Boldin to free agency, thus leaving them shy a physical fail-safe receiver on the outside who can go snatch Colin Kaepernick’s passes from DBs. Benjamin was inconsistent for the Seminoles, yet his 6-5, 244-pound frame (matched with a 4.53 40) falls right in line with what the 49ers crave at wide receiver.
