WR drop rates:
Landry 2.5% Evans 4.3% Watkins 4.5% Cooks 4.7% A-Rob 5.4% ODB 6.45% J-Matt 7.7% Kelvin 9.7% Lee 12.3%

Lee and Kelvin have pretty high drop rates. Kap's arm is not going to help them at all.

I want Landry on my team. Mr. Velcro, acrobat, ballerina, well not the latter. :yahoo:

Though I still would rather wait for Moncrief or trade up for Watkins

Not surprising that Landry leads in that category- he was Mr. Automatic when it came to converting on 3rd downs. He's also a willing blocker (although his technique needs refinement). I think he would fit in well as an understudy to Boldin (assuming he get re-singed to a reasonable 1-2 year deal). Jarvis doesn't have great burst, but he's good at selling routes and using his body to adjust to balls coming his way just like Anquan. Of course Boldin is beefier than Jarvis, but he can still put a little weight on his frame.

How? 70.30% of the completed passes for Watkins are behind the LOS to 5 yards. That's a pretty pathetic stat if you're talking about Kaepernick needs a WR that can work downfield.

This is why I'd rather not pay the price it'll take to trade up for Watkins. Kelvin and Beckham are the only ones who catch over half of their passes 11 yards or greater from the LOS. Those two seem to be the best deep threats out of the WRs analyzed.

I'd have to agree. I think Marqise Lee can do just about everything Watkins can do, and he can be had much lower. If Watkins were still there around 10 & the Niners traded up to get him, I'd be ok with that; but anything higher wouldn't maximize the efficiency of the pick(s) IMO.

Lee & Watkins are the only burners in this class IMO. I know you can find good WRs who aren't burners, but I think the Niners need a Mike Wallace or a Desean Jackson to compliment Vernon Davis & the slower, possession WRs the Niners already have.

I'd love to get a Calvin Johnson or an AJ Green who has everything, but I'm not convinced this draft has one of those guys (with the possible exception of Donte Moncrief, who I think has more potential than anyone else in the draft).

Most drafts don't have a Calvin Johnson or an AJ Green type, this one included. And no, Moncrief is not it.

Watkins is way out of our reach, and this is a deep WR class. It would be outright stupid to trade up for him, barring an unforeseeable drop.

An unforeseeable drop.......hmmm.......

I hear Watkins is a pot smoking malcontent diva. Oh, he also has arthritic knees and glaucoma.

Pass it on........

Don't get me wrong: I don't think Moncrief is either. Not even remotely. But you never know; Brandon Marshall shocked the world by becoming one of the best WRs in the NFL, and I think if anyone in this draft is going to do that it's going to be Moncrief.

I'm with you on this. I'd rather keep our picks and go after another guy. WR is one of the deepest positions in this draft. We would be wise to take at least 2 WR's in this draft.
