Marcus Martin - C - Trojans

Teams at the Senior Bowl mentioned that USC junior C Marcus Martin could be the first prospects selected at his position in May.

"Many were surprised when USC center Marcus Martin announced he was leaving for the draft. Not included in "many" were NFL scouts," Pauline writes. Colorado State's Weston Richburg seemed to emerge as the top senior center on the board, but there is also a possibility a guard or tackle is moved inside to center as well.

Mike Evans - WR - Aggies

CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman would select Texas A&M's Mike Evans as the top WR in the 2014 class.

Feldman prefaces the decision by saying he has spent plenty of time around Evans in recent months for an upcoming book. "Evans has great size at 6-4, 232 and underrated athleticism," Feldman writes. "He should vertical around 37-38 inches and clock in the high 4.4s, if not faster. He also has fantastic hands and toughness." Some seemingly expect a slow forty time for Evans in Indy, but he has great build up speed and is much better after the catch than given credit for. Feldman does note Evans is still raw as a route runner.

IMO this guy is a Randall Cobb clone. Explosive and knows how to get upfield in a split second. He has better hands than Cobb too. A lot of fans here have raved about Cobb's abilities on the field since joining the Packers, well if you love Cobb, then you should not look far in the draft to find his clone:

Odell Beckham Jr. - WR - Tigers

LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr. "could have been an elite soccer player," according to CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman.

Beckham apparently also played baseball and basketball growing up, to go along with football. "You're talking about a guy who is really explosive; could've been an elite soccer player, can throw the ball very well with either hand; has excellent return skills and some of the best hands in the Draft," Feldman says. The writer notes LSU coaches said Beckham could have starred at any position in their secondary.

This is so true, he does have a tendencies to drop the occasional easy passes. Often times though he will make up for it by using his sheer size advantage and leaping ability to snatch the ball at its highest point. It's almost unfair for DBs to try to defend him in the redzone or anywhere on the field for that matter that requires the two players battling for the ball to adjust to a high pass. I also don't like the fact that it takes him a bit a while to build up speed, he's the anti Sammy Watkins in that regard. The ability to hit maximum gear as soon as he plants his feet, then turns to run.

Kelvin Benjamin - WR - Seminoles

CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman believes FSU's Kelvin Benjamin is more boom-or-bust than any other WR in the class.

"Benjamin will make personnel folks' chins hit the floor when they first see him," Feldman writes. "Thing is, he's even more raw than Evans and it took him a while to get a sense of FSU's routes/offense and he seems like more of a project." Feldman adds this would make him leery of Benjamin. The massive wideout will be 23 in February and slowly progressed before bursting out in his final season. He still has inconsistencies at the catch point and had a drop rate of over nine percent.

I love me cornerbacks from the Gators' program. They know how to develop them:

Marcus Roberson - DB - Gators

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler lists Florida's Marcus Roberson as the top CB in the draft.

Roberson checks in at No. 16 overall on Brugler's board. "A fearless, confident cover corner, Roberson battled through several injuries in 2013, most notably a left knee issue," Brugler writes. "But when healthy, he has the footwork, movement skills and competitive nature to blanket receivers along with the instincts to make plays on the ball." Roberson was a highly touted corner heading into the season, but the combination of injuries and suspensions allowed other prospects to pass him in the national eye.

Roberson the 16th overall prospect???

Meh. He's a good prospect IMO, but he didn't exactly stand out. And he was playing with one of the best D-lines in college football his whole career.

I think people are still enamoured of how highly recruited he was in high school. In fact, most people thought Purifoy was the better CB all year.

Have to add a name to this list I've forgotten: Will Sutton. Probably better at the 3 technique than the 5; but his stock has taken a monumental fall from last year, and he didn't all of a sudden turn into a marginally-draftable player like Quinton Dial or something.

I know you and I discussed Sutton at the begining of the season, and believe we both liked him for similar reasons...

I for one believe that Purifoy is the better of the two. LP simply needs to work on his technique and not rely so much on his physical attributes. They are both good enough to start in the league though, no later than 2015.

2014 NFL Mock Draft Update: Complete 2nd Round - NFL Mocks - 2013 NFL Mock Draft, Fantasy Football, NFL News, and NFL Mock Draft Databases

What an intriguing 2nd round mock. I didn't get a chance to look at the 1st round as of yet, but this second round have some serious surprises for me. A lot of great players dropping to the second round, I am not sure if we can remain put and not attempt to trade up in the early second to grab one of those guys (Hageman, Nix, Beckham, etc.). Also I am a big Telvin Smith fan. However I don't see him climbing the board that much landing him into the 2nd round. Stranger things has happened though over the years. I was hoping we can draft him somewhere in the 4th or 5th round. As much as I like him, under the circumstances though that we are facing (Brown, Cox, Wright, Rogers, could all be gone and Cully is a scrub) I don't see how we pass up on Loucheiz Purifoy for Telvin Smith.

If the Niners go QB in round 3 or 4, the guy I like is Brett Smith out of Wyoming. He's got decent, size, he's athletic, and tough. He'd be a good prospect to study under Kaep and take over if (knock on wood) Kaep had to miss a game or two.

If Boyd keeps slipping, he wouldn't be too bad either.

Seems to be a ton of potential in that second round, more so than usual...

Notes for that mock:

Roby at 31? How 'bout 30? :hope:

Moncrief at 149? That would be grand theft WR.

Dominique Easley at the end of the 2nd round? Realistic & That's whom I want the Niners to select there.

This caught my eye:

150. Philadelphia Eagles: Ronald Powell, OLB, Florida

He's an intriguing prospect. I don't know what his deal is. He missed a lot of football in his college career. Missed all of 2012. 150 might even be too high for him due to his lack of a great body of work. He has some good pass-rush moves, but he lacks core strength / a bull rush. Could be a project like Seantrel Henderson. Don't know about his work ethic / attitude / off-fieild stuff (meaning I haven't heard anything about it).

Still think people are grossly overrating David Yankey.

2016 WR Class (Potentially)

1. Dorial Green-Beckham, Missouri
The sky is the limit.
2. Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss
Tall, lanky, born to play WR.
3. Corey Davis, Western Michigan
Need to see him against better competition, but had an OK game against MSU with a garbage time TD.
4. Tyler Boyd, Pittsburgh
A better Jordan Matthews.
5. Stacy Coley, Miami
Looks like Teddy Ginn jr.
?. Dontre Wilson, Ohio State
If he converts to WR, he looks too small to play RB. SPEED

Isaiah Crowell in the 6th seems kinda low.

Anthony Johnson in the mid-4th is good value IMO.
