Dane Brugler:

#Vanderbilt WR Jordan Matthews announced just now that he will return to school in 2013 for his senior season

I liked him a bit at the beginning of the season when I saw him on opening night. Could maybe develop into a #2. Don't think he has great speed deep but seems pretty refined already as a junior.

Agreed. He was actually one of my targets this year in 3rd round had he declared.

Bennie Logan huh? I wasn't expecting that.

Any thoughts on that guy? I was watching some other LSU defenders a lot closer than him this season.

DE Jordan has complete skill set
January, 4, 2013 10:25PM ET
By Kevin Weidl

The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl matchup between Oregon and Kansas State featured a handful of big-name NFL prospects, with Oregon DE Dion Jordan (Grade: 94) being the headliner.

Jordan left the game with an unspecified injury, but while he was on the field he flashed the skill set that makes him a first-round prospect in what is a loaded defensive end class.

Versatility is one of Jordan's biggest assets. At 6-foot-6⅛ and 239 pounds, he showed the length and explosive initial power to penetrate and set the edge against the run, though he did get caught too far upfield at times. Jordan also looked comfortable dropping into space in coverage, and rushed the passer effectively with his quickness and ability to bend the edge.

All that makes him a player who could line up as a 3-4 outside linebacker or at right end in a 4-3 scheme. I'm interested to see if his departure from the win over the Wildcats is related to a nagging shoulder injury that bothered Jordan late in the season, but his overall skill set makes him a solid first-rounder at this point.

Oregon OL Kyle Long (No grade)
I highlighted Long as a film-study standout a few weeks ago, and he continued to impress against Kansas State.

Long lined up at right tackle -- he's also played left tackle and guard this season -- and his power and toughness were on display. He could be seen in the third quarter climbing to the second level and engulfing then burying early-round Wildcats LB Arthur Brown, and Long's natural feet and athleticism were also on display.

He appeared hesitant at times in space and needs to work on his awareness and instincts, but Long (6-7, 311) is a relatively inexperienced player and those things will come with more reps in practice and games. However, I would rate his physical tools as highly as any offensive lineman in this year's class.

Long will have a chance to create even more buzz at the Senior Bowl, where he could use his raw athleticism and strength could turn heads much the same way current San Francisco 49ers G Mike Iupati did a few years ago.

There are some character concerns with Long, but if they can be overcome he could very well solidify a spot in the early part of the second round, or even work his way into the late-first round mix.

Oregon RB Kenjon Barner (74)
Barner has been a productive player for the Ducks, and he's a little bigger (5-9⅛, 186) and has better body control than former teammate and current 49ers RB LaMichael James.

Barner flashed good burst against K-State, but his power is somewhat limited and he was too quick to bounce runs to the outside at times. He accelerated well out of cuts, though, and showed a little versatility with a touchdown reception. He's also proven capable of handling a heavy workload, and had 31 carries for 143 yards against the Wildcats.

Barner's lack of size will prevent him from being an every-down back at the next level, but he could be a good mid-round option for a team in need of a change-of-pace back who can contribute on third down.

Oregon ILB Kiko Alonso (65)
Alonso is a physical player who doesn't back down and is aggressive at the point of attack. He flashed good explosiveness and played with a solid motor, and his awareness of passing lanes in coverage stood out.

He's also a big hitter who looks to finish and delivered a big blow across the middle on a receiver, and Alonso (6-27, 242) timed blitzes well and showed power when rushing up the middle. He could clean up his pursuit angles and be more under control at times in pursuit -- Alonso came in too hot on Wildcats QB Collin Klein at one point along the sideline, allowing Klein to cut back to the middle -- but he's worth keeping an eye on.

Alonso doesn't get a lot of exposure playing out west, but if he performs well at the Senior Bowl he could secure a mid-round grade.

Oregon ILB Michael Clay (31)
The game's defensive MVP, Clay was all over the field. His range and instincts are solid, but he's undersized and that will overshadow his production somewhat. Clay (5-111, 218) will likely get some late-round consideration.

Kansas State ILB Arthur Brown (79)
Brown didn't have his best game against Oregon and was engulfed at times by bigger blockers, but he showed enough to reinforce his second-round grade.

Brown (6-04, 224) plays a downhill style and could be seen shooting gaps and disrupting plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage. He also showed the ability to tackle in space, and he gets through traffic well.

His ability to handle bigger blockers is an issue, but Brown does flash the ability to absorb contact, give a little ground and fall off blocks into the play. He also holds up well in coverage and is solid playing in space. Brown is solidly in the early part of the second round at this point.

Kansas State WR Chris Harper (59)
Harper has good size (6-1, 231), and while he's not going to run by defenders he runs good routes and can create separation with his strength. Harper caught the ball well in traffic against Oregon, and he proved to be a strong runner after the catch.

He also competed well when the ball was in the air, and Harper is a receiver to keep an eye on as a potential possession-type receiver who could offer some value on Day 3.

Kansas State QB Collin Klein (46)
You have to like Klein's size (6-52, 220) and the way he creates as a runner at the college level. However, he is somewhat like Tim Tebow in that Klein is not explosive enough to be a true dual threat at the next level, and also has issues as a passer in terms of an elongated release and spotty accuracy.

Klein has improved his anticipation a bit, and his intangibles could lead some to believe he can be coached up, but I just don't see a good fit in the NFL at this point. He hangs balls up in the air too long and isn't a pro-style passer, and he doesn't have the juice to threaten defenses in a spread offense. I would have a hard time drafting Klein before Day 3.
