I know I got killed last time for even bringing it up, but I like looking at the basketball-reference advanced stats WS, Box, and VORP...

Barkley is the analytics darling, he is like a top 5 player all time with them.

I am a big fan of Dirk, I don't want to downplay what he has done, he has changed the position as much as Garnett ever did. I Just think Garnett was his teams best Scorer, Defender, and playmaker. I feel like he gets punished for carrying an underqualified team to the playoffs every year. The one year in Minnesota that he had a competitive team the only lost to the Lakers because Cassell hurt his back. That series was very close even without him.

See the only problem with VORP, WS, and box, just like any accumulating stat it measures every season equally...

I would rather have a player with the better peak and less consistent than the lower peak and more consistent player...

between Garnett and Barkley, it looks like Garnett's top 3 seasons were better but Barkley was better for longer...

I watched them go head to head in their primes and KG destroyed Dirk when they matched up. I do believe, that with the right players around him, Dirk has the ability to make a team better offensively, and because if his style, is a more effective player for a longer period of time

No Question, I think Dirk is the greatest offensive PF in history. He struggled with KG because he was custom built to counter act him. Tall enough that Dirk lost his shot over the defender that he thrived on, but athletic enough that Dirk could not work the lanes to his advantage like he does against slower post players.

Other than Anthony Davis no other PF I can think of has or had that combination though.

I am curious about the decline, Garnetts 18th season he averaged 15 points 8 rebounds 1 block and 1 steal.
Nowitzkis 18th(this season) 18 point 7 rebounds .5 block and steals

With both of them playing around 30 minutes. Year 19 is when Garnett fell off a cliff and became purely a help defender. If Dirk plays next year like this year he for sure has kept it going longer. Side note garnett entered the league 1 year younger, so you can make the case that his year 19 is the same as Dirks 18. If so for sure he maintained his production longer.

So who still needs to pick? If you need to pick then go pick. Let's get this wrapped up tonight. Then playoffs for both sports this weekend.

@Pack 500

I want to say again that I hate 500.

1) he gave me a horrible avatar
2) I just added up all the players he took right before I picked and out of his 20, 9 of those guys were stolen right before I selected.
3) I'm pissed because now I'm forced to vote for his team because half of those guys I wanted :suds:

I don't know if 500 should take my comment as a compliment that I wanted those guys or as a indicator that he drafted poorly :D

It's a glorious avatar. Just wait for the other one in month 2 and you'll appreciate this one. And we're probably both in trouble :suds:

How many drafts has WLK gotten the #1 pick, meaning gotten MJ. I smell a conspiracy theory with him and Nos.

I'm going to make up some stats. Did you know when MJ plays 12 minutes or less a game he shoots only 10%. He also turns it over 8 more times. I think I read that made up stat on a snapple bottle cap.

What a jerk you are. You take 9 of my guys and won't let EHB keep 1 of yours. Fine I guess I'll text him.

I just don't know how Nos does it. He constantly sells us that he has a awesome team and we fall for it and vote him champ. Now he suckered a woman half his age into a date tonight. Man he can sell himself. To Nos :suds: may you get done with your date with another championship.
