I didn't say Bo Jackson was nearly as good a player as Koufax was, I said he had as much raw talent as him. You're the one who wants to call Koufax one of the greatest pitchers ever LOL.

The worst part is you have no clue how clueless you are. Do you know what xFIP- is by any chance?
You just LOL'd my calling Koufax one of the greatest pitchers ever. That ends the conversation and confirms you an absolute baseball dumbass. Ex JV backups that learn xFIP and think they know the game is the same as the kid who didn't pass his tryout in BJJ but thinks he's an expert because he's got a red belt on Sherdog.

There's conflicting reports on how hard Koufax threw. And what do you mean by "controversial"? UK Cowboy is just being his retarded, normal self. A clueless idiot from Texas
Who has forgotten more baseball than you will ever know, despite your vast experience as a JV player who couldn't make his varsity squad

See what I'm talking about everyone? "I played baseball longer than you, therefore I know more." And yes, calling Koufax a top 3 pitcher is laughable. Ask anyone who is informed about the game (not people from Texas)

What's xFIP-? It's a simple question, bro.

Since you don't know xFIP-, a rudimentary statistic, I'll ask an even easier question. What is WPA/LI?

I know what it is idiot, and the key word in xFIP is EXPECTED, as in an estimate, or GUESS, which is slang for some egghead from bleacher report who is trying to show a new way to place value or devalue a player from an era despite the fact that he never played the game. In other words, someone as clueless as yourself

I think I googled top pitcher of all time and the sometimes awful Ranker site had Koufax as far and away the most popular answer for #1. Koufax is definitely the most popular pitcher of all time.

I'm okay with someone saying Koufax is top 3. He is well regarded. He just isnt going to make my list.

You get your stats from baseball reference, reading a stat line doesn't give you the first clue about knowing the game. And one thing I know without question, a 19 year old boy would learn some manners after I put my belt across his rear JV

LOL. You fighting me. That'd be funny, but I'd feel bad after whupping a mentally retarded kid's ass. Also, I watch far more baseball than you, around ~150 Phillies games a year

Obviously. But the nuances of this question are very difficult to parse.

Walter Johnson was basically just a badass fastball. Ty Cobb figured him out but Johnson also destroyed everyone else and was a couple of generations ahead of the curve in terms of arm strength. How do you rate that? I put him up there but maybe he is only top 10 and not top 2. Maybe if he came up in today's game, he would've been able to put everything together and still be far and away better than everyone else.

I don't know if he's "overrated" or not, but considering he pitched 11 seasons, and in 5 of them never reached a 2 win season, he doesn't belong in a top 25 list based on career alone.

Now, if you want to make a list based on ability or talent, then sure he belongs, along with Bo Jackson, Joe Jackson, etc.

Holy shit talk about an over-exaggeration. Koufax is comparable to Bo Jackson who never did much in his career whole Koufax dominated for most of his decade and had 3 CY Youngs. Do your research some more there

Bob Gibson and Koufax are frick and Frack, kosher and Jazz. Take a snap shot of their brilliance at their best and they were as good as anybody. To me when I consider Greg Maddux was as good as either at his peak AND he has the second most wins since WWII AND he only spent 15 days total on the DL in his 23 year career, there is no comparison big picture wise.

Nobody still gives a fuck about wins so stop bringing it up lol

Koufax was great for 6 seasons. He would have been great for longer if not for the injury. He had raw potential. Bo Jackson too had raw potential. Are you denying any of this?
