It was alright......need to see it again. I got distracted and it turned into background noise.
The young lady friend providing the distraction? Hopefully a good distraction? :thumb:

Nah, wasn't a female. Got distracted by something on tHoop.

I rarely sit and watch just a movie. I usually have a movie on while I have 2-3 tabs open on my laptop. I'm a huge multi-tasker.

Saw it came out in 2016 and had to watch this.....even though the Raiders are televised. Flipping back and forth.

Getting my Horror on today...watched The House at the End of the Street, which absolutely sucked...bummer.

Watching The Grudge now. One of those movies I've heard great things about, but have never seen. It got my attention right from the start.

Agreed on House at the End of the Street... Other than watching J Lawrence run around in a tight (and sometimes transparent) wife beater, it was a very forgettable experience.

How have you never watched The Grudge????? That's almost a crime in this thread. Just promise me you won't watch the 2nd or 3rd installments. They were horrendous, and not in a good way.

The Grudge is one of my favorite horror movies. Probably top 10 easy. I was really hoping that The Forest would have lived up to it since it was being compared to it prior to its release, but sadly it didn't come close.

Not watching it, just saw it on cable and thought I'd drop it in here.

Very different from what I read about it.

The Barrens (2012)

Been a while since I've seen this movie, but gave it another watch last night since I remember liking it. This film is a moody and atmospheric horror thriller. The writing, the directing, the acting and the overall outcome was pretty impressive for a small budget film. Stephen Moyers' performance in particular was pretty damn good. His tortured decent into madness was chilling. Even though it was a slow burner at times, the plot itself is very enthralling and keeps you guessing all the way to the end. IMO the pace was methodical as it works perfectly with the twists & turns. Just when you think you have the facts, we get handed more reasons to doubt. One particular element that played a huge part in the suspense, as you can probably guess, is the setting. The dense forest was captured beautifully and it creates a very dreadful atmosphere. Hats off to the director for his visual style. There is some nice gore and make up effects as well. Overall this movie is very entertaining and I'd recommend it to anyone that loves creature features & mystery thrillers.

The Jersey Devil is out there... or is it? . 8/10

Recovery (2016)

Unoriginal, odd, and off-based... Sure I knew what I was getting myself into, but for a few glaring reasons it still disappointed me. Not sure if the actors were to blame, but the way that the majority of the characters behaved was far too unrealistic. And it's not just character stupidity, its also random actions that serve no purpose to the movie at all. Too many distractions is the result. The pacing of the film was pretty awful as well. It was slow and the writers did very little to make it interesting. You knew where everything was headed, and you knew the outcome long before anything happened. Even the supposedly exciting parts consisted of twenty minutes of the victims running around the house trying to avoid the killers. The kills weren't anything special. Very basic effects and a relatively small amount of gore. The only cool part was the 5second fx for the killer with the mask. As the movie neared it's end I started getting anxious for it to be over because it was just too stale and boring. The finale was an absurd attempt at reclaiming the suspense. Could have done without it. Nothing to see here, move along.

Forgettable experience... 4/10

Don't Breathe (2016)

Thanks @Podunkparte for bringing it to my attention!

Wow this movie did not disappoint. This film was an incredibly intense thrill ride for such a simple plot & setting. Kudos to the writers & director for maximizing every aspect of this film. Everything from the cinematography, acting, progression/twists, gore, suspense, etc was awesome. One of the male robbers annoyed me a little as he seemed far too "goody two-shoes". But I got over it! Jane Levy put on a stellar performance. She should be included in the discussion for this generation's scream queen after this and her role in Evil Dead (2013). Also gotta give a shout out to Stephen Lang as he played one helluva f'd up antagonist. Have to admit that his role was both memorable and particularly frightening. The way they had him, a blind man, swiftly moving through the hallways & rooms was awesome. It really heightened the suspense because you never knew what he was going to do. It was like a demented game of Marco Polo where the person was trying to kill you. Almost crapped my pants during a few scenes. Not to mention his eerie voice or super-human-like strength. The plot had a predictable setup, but once the robbery got underway all bets were off. Even with the intensity of the film, it still provided a couple crazy twists. The turkey baster scene was particularly cringe-worthy. I'll never look at one of those the same again. This film was awesome. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Crazy amount of suspense in this one... 9/10

COMING SOON!

Split (2017)

Release Date: January 20th

Synopsis: Kevin, a man with at least 23 different personalities, is compelled to abduct three teenage girls. As they are held captive, a final personality - "The Beast" - begins to materialize.

Time to see if M Night Shyamalan can recapture his seat amongst the horror elite. He has fallen out of favor with quite a few 'dud' movies since The Sixth Sense & Signs, but this movie definitely has my attention. I have always been fond of James McAvoy. If you want to see what he can do with a split-personality role then I'd highly recommend watching the Euro-film Filth. That movie is mostly the reason why I'm such a big fan of his (not fond of any of his X-men roles lol). I cannot wait to see what he brings to this movie. Judging by the trailer I'd say that this movie plays as a psychological thriller, and it looks very intense.

Been watching the original Halloween movies on AMC. Geezus, poor ol' Doc Loomis took a beating in 'em.
