I'm no fan of Cam, but all the head shots were way over the top.

Not sure about "all" of them. The Von one was when he was going down. Von was targeting his chest/stomach and he got knocked down into the collision there. The outside the pocket one... yeah I can see that and called right but that's the only one where you could argue any intent or recklessness on the D.

Any other helmet to helmet hits he took were as a runner, and when he's running he doesn't get protection as a qb.

It's not supposed to matter...any runner you hit with the crown of the helmet, outside the tackle box, is supposed to be a foul

The 1st paragraph deals with him as a kid and lists reasons to dislike his dbag father.

The 3rd paragraph deals with his toughness and competitiveness. I don't think either is in question if you objectively look at his game.

The 2nd paragraph is what it's all about. I personally don't dislike him (or like him per say). He's a great QB though.
I don't buy the kid argument, I don't know about you but I never stole a laptop when I was a kid. Agree about his father, but again, just laying out the case why people don't like him.

As for the Super Bowl play, all I can say is one bad moment can undo a lifetime of good. Cam is obviously a tough guy (as evidenced last night), but jumping away from a fumble on the country's biggest stage with the game on the line is tough to live down, no matter what else you do. If people were inclined to like him, then yeah it would be easier to forgive, but when you're already as disliked as he is, it's just more fuel to the fire.

As for myself, I don't like him, but that's mostly for my reasons in paragraph two. It's not even the dancing that bothers me as much as it is the pouting when he loses. You gotta be able to take your lumps if you're going to celebrate like he does.

No argument there. All he has to do is stand up and take accountability when his team loses. He makes that offense go: when they win, he's a big reason why, and when they lose, he's a big reason why. I get "hating to lose," everyone does. But you take it like a man

And what he did in Houston too. Lots of injuries and guys like Ward, Ben Tate, Forsett would just come in and go for 5-6 yards a carry. Slaton was amazing before getting hurt. Ron Dayne looked like a quality back. And Foster was unstoppable (granted hurt last year but struggling those first few games the year that they no longer had Kubiak).

Not surprising. Coaches who started under a certain coaching tree tend to pick up and carry on those systems. My point being, broncos were doing that system with Shanahan and Kubiak before Texans even existed. Don't call the broncos Texans of the Rockies when the broncos did it first.

But it is minor quibble I have.

I don't understand the people who were impressed with Siemian

It was not is measurables that impressed me. He just seemed calm out there despite playing a tough team to open the season, on your NFL debut, SB celebration, etc. I think the real question of how good can he be will come somewhere after week 4 when you can see teams game plan to some of his tics.

And I didn't see any crown of the helmet hits that should have been called outside of the tackle box. But if you have replays of some I'll change my tune.

So much this, and I've said it long before last night. I've never understood why a 5 yard defensive penalty is an automatic first down. Give them the 5 yards and let them try the down again. But the NFL loves offense so I doubt it will ever change.

This is a picture of the hands to the face. Call could have gone against either of them which in my opinion means they just shouldn't have called anything. Both players got physical and it should have been the end of the game...

A rule that is NEVER called.

They missed the Von Miller hit and that should have been called. But no way should they have called the one on the outside. If he chooses to act like a running back, he's going to get hit like a running back.

Neither defense looked all that impressive last night to me. Collinsworth was spot on regarding the Broncos interior pressure being MIA. The Panthers got very little pressure unless they brought extra guys. Both teams got run over pretty convincingly.

I don't know if I would say I was impressed with him, but I will say I don't think the sky is falling and he'll be just fine as Denver's qb for now. He was extremely poised which was very nice to see. That was the biggest thing. The moment clearly isn't too big for him.

That Panthers d is pretty good, especially that front 7. He's got some work to do, but the fact that he wasn't a disaster is encouraging.

It was a tight call. Doesn't mean it was wrong. And Harris knew he was in choppy waters there which is why he whipped his arm down right after grabbing the mask.

A no call would have been fine as well as he clearly wasn't doing much to the receiver. But the ref can only go by what he sees. He sees a players hand on the face mask he's going to call it usually.

Understand but you can clearly see in the picture that both players have their hands on the other's facemask. One of those calls that they could have actually called it on Benjamin and it would have been justified. I understand the call because yes it was illegal according to the rules what Harris did but I'm also not going to blame him for getting flagged there when both have their hands up like that and it was just such a tight call that you hate to see at such a critical moment of the game. Thankfully that call didn't cost us the game.

I think the Panthers had a really great gameplan, they obviously learned from the Super Bowl and adjusted well. I'm hoping that our struggle to stop the run was more a symptom of the Panthers just being a great running team and not that we really missed Jackson and Walker. Lack of interior pass rush was definitely worrisome, and that's where I think they missed Jackson the most.

I was really encouraged by our running game. That Panthers front 7 is no joke, and the fact that we ran so well on them bodes extremely well.

I think both defenses will be fine, maybe not as good as last year for either, but both will still be very good.

Meh... I really don't care what scripted speeches guys give in post-games, as long as he takes accountability to his team, I could care less if he takes it with the news media or not.

I can see the difference today though. We expect more. Vince Lombardi could get away with that stuff. Montana could skip his post-game after they lost to the Giants in the playoffs and he was terrible. Bronco's O-line could completely ignore the media. But we need to hear those lines for some reason today. Maybe it's just how people validate that they just don't like him? I don't know.

I think it is the fact that he was down 10 in the 4th quarter to one of the best defenses in football and yet stayed cool and collected even after throwing a couple of intereceptions and helped guide a couple of really nice drives to get the Broncos on top. He definitely has plenty to work on. He was far from perfect. Cannot have those turnovers. The tipped interception was on him for not getting it up a bit higher and we saw that same thing when he had a guy wide open in the end zone where he tried to zip it in to get it tipped. The other one he had the guy open for a touchdown and unfortunately pressure in his face got to him. I don't blame him for the throw but either get that out a bit earlier or the team needs to figure out how to pick up those delayed blitzes. Seemed like those were the plays they struggled to block.

For a first game against such a tough opponent he did a great job keeping the team calm and believing they could win this game. Can't ask much more from a young guy.

The difference is, none of those guys were showboats like Cam is. Nobody cared about the Broncos o-line ignoring the media after a loss because they ignored the media all the time. Lombardi and Montana weren't dancing and celebrating and saying things like, "If you don't like the dancing, stop me." That's the difference.

Eh, I'm not really going looking for any at this point, when it doesn't matter. I know Marshall went after Cam's head, but...no call, no foul.

If Wilson or Brees took some of those same hits last night, they would have been sailing 5 yards downfield and the refs would not have hesitated to throw a flag. Of course, this is why they SLIDE.

I get that when Cam runs, he's a RB, but still, the league has said they were going to try and clamp down on H2H hits, and I think that was all just lip service because of the bad press they've been getting the past several years.

I might be mistaken about which game you're mentioning, but Montana got his eggs scrambled in one playoff game against NY. Jim Burt came in unblocked and planted his ass on the goal line, messed up his shoulder and rung his bell good. That might have been why Joe didn't speak to the press afterwards

Pretty good game last night. Kudos to the Broncos...and I'm eating a little crow today, thought CAR would win that one.

More than anything...my take, the CAR OC is simply not that good.

While giving the Broncos D some credit, the Panthers take over the ball with 3 min and change with at least 2 chances to stop the clock and they more or less played right into DEN's hands...they pretty abandoned the run and went 2 min when they only needed a FG to win.

No screen passes, no draw plays...nothing to feast on D hellbent on rushing the passer. That was piss poor play calling and largely why the Panthers lost imo.
