Really depends on his physical. He is leg pressing 600 pounds now. I would easily gamble a second for him if his physical is reasonable.

Months ago I was in favor of the idea, you rarely get a talent like this at 21. But that was when the reports had him maybe missing the very early part of the year if that. Now it appears as if the injury is more severe. Round 2? Hell yeah provided he is medically cleared and it's just a matter of time.

I think 4/15 is the medical recheck. Very important date for Smith and Joseph. Most likely 2016 season would be a redshirt season for Smith.

I like the gamble on him in the 3rd-4th round neighborhood. Guy is a beast, if he fully recovers could be a steal there. Might have been the #1 pick before the injury.

I have told you guys before, I think this team should take a chance one or two of these guys every year. There are always guys who have a major drop because of injury or character concerns.

I read above that not one pundit ever gets a mock right. That tells me that Kiper and other more reputable mockers are idiots too. After the first five its a guess. Even then it sometimes doesn't go as planned. One trade or unexpected move can start a snowball effect.

Smith story is a fascinating read about how a injury late in the bowl season can cost a athlete millions over the course of his career.
Local radio station here in Dallas calls these type players for Dallas Blue Star Specials in deference to the old Kmart blue light special. Smith injury is severe damage from what I have read but modern medicine is truly remarkable. A 2nd for this kid could be a steal or it could be a disaster and unfortunately these type players usually go to a solid team that can give them a redshirt season or just let them heal and get to 100%
