Tough to say. I really don't know anything about the actual history which I understand is only partially accurate anyway.

They already had him betray his brother once then reconsider. Would they do it again? Maybe he accepts the offer but with no intention of betraying Ragnar but instead betrays the French king when the vikings return.

Yea its tough to say. I'm hoping he ends up betraying the French, but I wouldn't put it past him to betray Ragnar again. His moment alone with Ragnar's casket made him seem remorseful of his wrongdoings in the past, but yet accepted it like he couldn't change himself.

I think Rollo will pull a Floki. Gain the trust of the French then turn on them with some form of back stabbing. Think it is all a ploy on his part. Don't think he is really considering fighting his brothers in Arms when they return. Which I am figuring will be led by Ragnar's Son. (just a feeling)

If that's the plan then I'm sure the writers will bait us into thinking Rollo is siding with the French all along only to pull a 180 on us. Sounds like midseason finale material. Book it

I don't know how popular this show is but I hope it keeps going past Season 4. Its a very unpredictable show which I really enjoy. The only predictions my wife and I think will happen at some point is Lagertha and Ragnar getting back together, Athelstan being relevant in some manner(spiritually?) and that Ragnar will eventually be killed but that may not happen until the Series finale?

I have a feeling this past season's fake death was their way of gauging the audience's reaction to Ragnar's future death. I've read up on my history, and as it goes he doesn't have much longer. I think this next season we are going to see a stronger role from Bjorn and possibly Rollo to give way to Ragnar being as important to the show as he is now.

But most TV shows have a tendency to rewrite the scripts. I wouldn't be surprised to see this show last 2-3 more seasons before anyone important dies. Also it is important to note that Ragnar's history isn't based on facts. His entire story is written in poem & sagas (fictitious). His sons are historical figures though, but it is unclear what truths are real or if Ragnar even existed. There is zero evidence that he ever lived. So with that in mind, the writers of this show are free to do as they please. So far they have stuck to the historical events of his time.

Some people may consider it spoilers, so I try not to post any of the actual "historic" stuff in here. But the show definitely does not follow 100% the actual history. Yet at the same time I highly doubt they 100% change major historic things either.

For instance Rollo the Viking 100% did exist and has a major contribution to history. Although he wasn't in any way related to Ragnar Lodbrok, in fact while he might have been peers of some of Ragnar children (possibly) he was probably 20-30 years younger than Ragnars youngest son. And the way last season ended with somebody faking his death and cutting his way out of France to open the gates...? Rollo is the one who did that trick. Except it was in Sicilly or somewhere, not Paris.

Ragnar Lodbrok may not have existed at all. He was most likely the ancient precursor to Saturday night lives Bill Brasky and maybe the Chuck Norris meme. Basically anything that any viking may have done, or even could possibly have done was attributed to Ragnar in their stories.

But the kids he had are all pretty famous in their own right. Pobably more famous than him, and many of his stories are most likely fake. So you can Google some of the names and be better able guess how the season will go. But the writers can just change anything they want so it won't ruin anything for you. And I will continue to try not to mention any of the possible spoilers until they happen at least.

The show had got me to read up on the history on the Vikings and Ragnar and so I am familiar with the big questions about Ragnar and the Vikings. Saw one documentary on YouTube where a couple historians believe Ragnar likely did at least exist based whatever records they have on his possible sons not being able to get away with claiming someone as their father without having some amount of truth to it. Certainly not proof of Ragnar but its an interesting way of looking at it.

I tried to stick more towards reading up/watching documentaries on simply Vikings rather than Ragnar because of the show but I have a general idea of what's historically accurate and what isnt. I will say there are a couple really interesting YouTube documentaries where archeologists dig on known Viking settlement sites/ruins and find some pretty amazing relics. Just from their findings, they learned Vikings aren't the barbaric animals that people believe they were and how smart they were to exist and function as they did without writing anything down like laws etc.

Well the Sagas themselves can't really be considered historically accurate, they were written hundreds of years after these events were supposed to have taken place. Ivar being disabled was only a theory, but it makes for a great story.

Travis Fimmel did not renew his contract, say goodbye to Ragnar, it will be his sons who take most of the spotlight now. I don't think the show will miss a beat, they've done a fantastic job up to this point.

I get why Rollo did it but he kinda has no leverage now. Good thing for him he got baptized a couple of seasons ago.

On the bright side I get to watch 2 episodes as opposed to 1 this week!

That fight scene in the end-last time there was one that badass on this show Gabriel Berne was talking about dinner reservations in Valhalla. And that is saying something.

I was thoroughly impressed with the ending.

20 episodes? Sounds like a final season to me. Probably going to see another time jump if that's the case.
