The Bengals deserve everything they get. This is just...Total...Complete...Embarrassment. The same can be said for Mike Tomlin, but he's had playoff success so he will keep his job.
He should be joined in the unemployment line by Burfect and Jones.

Today's NFL...obviously I have a dog in this fight so to speak, but it seems like you just don't agree with the rules of the game today...1-4...I think you're over thinking it...you do not have to lead with your helmet...a shoulder, forearm, etc. contacting a defenseless player above the shoulder is a penalty.

You said he was head hunting. I am simply saying that it was really hard to find any evidence that Burfict was looking to injure the player. Much more evidence that he backed off on the hit, than evidence he was making a dirty play.

The penalty was called correctly. Porter being on the field was 100% legit given that it was a TO and he was out there to help Brown. Now where the fine comes in hat he shouldn't be jawing with the other team so that I agree with but Pac-Man is still the dumbass who tried to take a swing at a guy over an official thus hitting him(which is when a flag was thrown) all because Porter was talking and Jones couldn't handle it.
It's not legit. It is actually a penalty according to the rulebook. Understandably there is leeway given to coaches during injuries, but Porter was not out there for his player.

People are jumping all over Burfict, but Shaziers hit on Bernard was 10x worse. He took 2 steps, but was still completely blindsided by a guy who launched at him with the crown of his helmet square in the chin.

Before any more talk about "dirty" hits, the league needs to get its act together and figure out a comprehensive policy on hitting and what is or isn't legal. Even the awful "targeting" rule in NCAA is better than the NFL's rules currently.

Yes. The rule needs to regulate what is a proper tackle. The penalty on Cincy that led to the 2nd FG was laughable. Just Institute a rule that required players wrap on tackles. Any tackle without a legit attempt to wrap up is a flag. That is a rule the players can adjust to over time. Trying to regulate the area of contact is almost impossible

He was out there for his player you can see it on the replay he did spend a bit of time checking on Brown.

Bottom line Pac-Man still hit an official when he tried to hit Porter so he should've been flagged.

Incorrect. Porter is not a HC, he was NOT on the field to help Brown.....he walked over to the other side of the field, where multiple Bengals were huddled together.....and started berating them.

THIS is why he is being fined. The penalty should have been assessed the SECOND he stepped on the field. He has no right to the field during the game under any circumstances.

Looks like the league is going to fine Porter.....but his penalty non call pretty much gave them the chip shot FG win. I think the team will pay his fine.

Like I said, HORRIBLE officiating. If that penalty is called correctly, the Steelers still aren't in FG range with 20 seconds. There's no guarantee they get a catch downfield, and get the FG team on in time to make an attempt. That penalty more or less guaranteed the win, regardless of the fumble or Burfict

By rule in an injury situation coaches are allowed on the field. Why was a DEF on the field for a on OFC player injury...idk... Clearly he was yapping when he came out there, but if you throw a flag for him being on the field...it wasn't just Porter on the field..more than one Steeler coach was on the field looking after Brown.

Should Porter have been flagged for instigating or just being on the field?...on the field...imo no...If the refs heard him instigating while out there...I would say yes, flag, but this was a case of the 2nd guy getting caught...Porter said something...Adams responded, people trying to drag other pieces into this are reaching...if Adams controls himself...PIT is looking at a 50 yarder with 18 sec left.

Of course Lewis should get fired. He showed no ability to control his team. If Tom can lose his job in part because he couldn't control his team then Lewis shouldn't be safe.

Get this straight. POSITION coaches are NOT ALLOWED ON THE FIELD. PERIOD.

A HC can be on the field.....but not a minor coach. The flag should have been thrown the SECOND he stepped on the field.

This is in the rule book. The call should have been on Porter, and the NFL has ALREADY CONFIRMED THIS. This really isn't debatable.

Should have offsetting PIs on Porter and Pacman. There absolutely no situation where a coach should be yelling at opposing players.

Oh no. I'm not lumping them in the same place at all. Lewis has a lot more to be embarrassed about. But the Steelers still had some bad moments too.

Agreed...Takes two tango, and in football rarely do people walk away from confrontation. Bottom line...this has been brewing for a long time...it has some personal twists to it that many don't know about unless you follow these teams on a regular basis. On many levels, this game was personal, the weaker minded players let it get to them a bit too much.

What I didn't understand was why Tomlin said in the postgame that both teams represented what AFC North football is all about. Bad choice of words for sure.

Porter knew exactly what he was doing. He baited Jones, but it should have been a penalty. Or do you believe Porter was trading recipes?

ARTICLE 8. NON-PLAYER PERSONNEL

Non-player personnel of a club (e.g., management personnel, coaches, trainers, equipment men) are prohibited from making unnecessary physical contact with or directing abusive, threatening, or insulting language or gestures at opponents, game officials, or representatives of the League.

Penalty: Loss of 15 yards. (Unsportsmanlike Conduct.) Enforcement is from:

  1. the succeeding spot if the ball is dead;
  2. the previous spot if the ball was in play; or
  3. whatever spot the Referee, after consulting with the crew, deems equitable.(Palpably Unfair Act.)

As stated.....Porter should have been flagged, period.

That penalty wipes out the Burfict penalty, and the Steelers are back at mid field, with 20 seconds, and no Brown......maybe they get a completion, maybe not.

Would have been a better ending than pretty much officiating a win for them though.

Coaches yell at opposing players all the time....should they be doing it while on the field...no, and that's why Porter is likely to get a fine...for a ref to flag him...he would've had to be close enough to hear it...maybe he was and just missed it.

You can at least give Burfict credit for trying to make a football play. Adams pushing a coach, ref, someone not in a player's uniform is pure lack is discipline...I can't bail him out on that one.

Heh heh. I know a lot of Steelers fans in my family that seem to be in total denial about that play. Now Burfict on the other hand tried to kill Brown, take it from them. :pound:

And we, as well as the LEAGUE, can't bail Porter out either.

You seem to be in denial in his role in this, and the FACT he should have been flagged.

I thought and still do think he was trying to deliver a knock out blow...was he trying to hit him in the head...idk that's a question for Burfict, but a blow above the shoulders to a defenseless player is a penalty...that's all I'm saying. They got the call right on the field.
