my draft was going on at about the same time: Jordy had already been picked, maybe second round. I picked up Adams in round 12, but nobody knew about the injury yet.

I just picked him up on a flyer, and since Boykin left.

As for real life, hate the news. Always respected Jordy Nelson...I sat in the stands and watched him single-handed beat my alma mater (Texas) with at least one, and maybe two punt return TDs. Also had TD reception I think...just killed us. What a great football player.

I had a keeper league draft last week and he was one of two I kept.

Green Bay is deep at wide receiver but you just don't replace a 13 touchdown guy. It's that plain and simple but they of all teams have a chance to still be a real solid offense. As a lifelong Packers fan I'm just sick but also remember the last Super Bowl Green Bay won they had a simply horrible injury ridden season and found a way to overcome it. I think it goes down as one of the finest sporting achievements I can recall seeing all the injuries they overcame. Next man up.

There's no crying in football!!!!

Brutal loss but I expect the Packers to be right there as 1 of the best teams in the NFC and entire NFL.

And it was a brutal loss for my FF team, I was absent most of the weekend and selected him with my 2nd round pick (after Bryant). I was trying to have a studly duo of WR's.

@LambeauLegs what are your thoughts on this?

I was at the game and now traveling so have not been on much the last few days. As we all know injuries can make or break a teams season. I myself feel confident it will not have much of a negative effect on the Packers season as the depth and talent the Packers have will be able to over come this. Rodgers helps make his receivers better than they may be with a lesser QB and Davante Adams was going to be a much bigger threat this year than he was as he adjusted to the pro's and had great games at the end of the year and through the playoffs. Adams was mentioned as the MVP of the off season and training camps.

There is 2cnd year receiver Janis that will get more opportunities who is the fastest player on the team. The rookie Montgomery has had a fantastic training camp who has been called a bigger strong Cobb or another Sterling Sharpe.

The question to ask was who thought Jordy Nelson was anything a few years back? The Packers are good at developing receivers and know when to get rid of them when they are not producing at the same level anymore looking back at Jennings, Jones, Driver.

Adjustments will be made but this will not effect the team much as the Packers are much more than one player.

As you read all the news articles it seems the Packers will be devastated because of this injury. But this is all a bit of an over reaction because they are not aware of what the Packers really are and the team depth.

My league always does the fantasy draft the night before the season starts to avoid all these injury issues. Why do people do them early?

The only injury that should ever devastate a team's chances of winning the Super Bowl is if the QB goes down. I am a huge Jordy Nelson fan as have met the guy and he is a class act all the way. He will be missed some for sure but even with this injury I would still put Green Bay in the top-2 teams in the NFC mostly because with Rodgers they will always have one of the top offenses in the league even if they only had mediocre receivers for him to play with.

So after reading some of the rah-rah stuff about how deep the Packers are at WR and how this won't have much of a negative effect, I guess GB is just wasting money on Jordy Nelson? Why are they paying this guy if they're just as good without him?

They would have wasted money on Gregg Jennings and James Jones so let them walk

Jordy is not being over paid and if they didnt pay him they would have maybe $20 mil in cap space instead of the current $15mil.

The Packers with their cap space are able to pay fair salaries to players they see as valuable but dont over pay like Travon Williams and House who are now over paid

The fact is players age and skills diminish and they all need to be replaced and this is an ongoing thing that never stops. This process is always under way in Green Bay and is why they have players ready to step in. Just in some cases when an injury comes up they need to do it a bit sooner than planned

Well reading over at the Seattle board it seems like some over there feel like they can replace Kam no problem if he continues to hold out into the season. Heck some were thinking it would just be better to trade him. Yet they paid him pretty darn good money for his position. To me you keep the talented players on the team if you have the money. What they are paying Jordy compared to his talents is actually in my opinion a discount. If he was a FA this off season he would be making what DT and Dez are making. So while yes they can still be a very productive offense they will still be hurt a bit by his absence. Rodgers definitely helps to cover up some of that hurt and maybe now they run it a bit more but it is an injury that will still hurt. You don't lose a top-10 player at his position and just think everything will be perfect in his absence.
