My 2024 NFL 1st Round Mock Draft

I figured I would post a 1st round mock draft just for fun. I’m not going to predict trades even though I’m sure we’ll have a few, so I’m just going by the order the teams are picking in right now. So here we go

There it is, my first round mock draft for this year.

Pretty good. I think someone will snag Penix in the 1st though. His stock SOARED after the combine... he was the best looking QB out there. He was already considered a 1st round pick and then after the Championship his stock dropped... but I think with the combine he snuck back in. I know you didn't mock trades in your draft, but I could easily see someone move up into the 1st for the 5th year option.

I think most Seattle fans will be perfectly fine with Fautanu or best DL on the board. I know Harold wants QB all the way so if we take Penix at 16 he'll probably be doing cartwheels all over the forum, lol.

Latu to the Rams scares me... I think he's by far the best pass rusher in the draft and I really don't like the idea of them hounding our QB for another 10 years...

I wouldn’t be surprised if Penix went in the 1st round either, I just didn’t factor in trades and the only team I could see taking a QB in the 1st round other than the 4 I had taking a QB is the Broncos, and I’m just not sure if they would use the #12 pick on Penix. I personally think Penix is better than JJ McCarthy but most people seem to disagree.

I think Olu and Guyton are too high.

Olu apparently has the smallest hands ever in an OT prospect. On top of some technique issues, I think he might go in the 20s.

Guyton is just really raw and inconsistent. I think he goes in the 30s.

JJ McCarthy is going between pick 2 and 6. Might as well rip the bandaid on that inconvenient truth.

I think the Falcons go CB.

I think Latu’s injury concerns will cause him to fall a bit, I think he may be the most talented pass rusher in the draft to be honest but it seems like teams have concerns about his injuries. Personally I would be fine with Turner, Latu or Verse as a Falcons fan, I think all 3 are pretty good pass rushers.

True.... but he is the best pass rusher (IMO) in this draft and it's not even close. His technique is miles above Turner.

It's very weird to me. I've heard like 15 different analysts eat he'd be top 5 off not for the injury history but then he absolutely dominates his pro day and medicals so you wouldn't think that would be as big of a concern now yet i still see a lot of mosks where QB needy teams aren't taking him

I could see him going top 12 or taking halfway into rd 2

Will be interesting to see where he ends up

Yah I think a lot of it is his injury history and he played with some of the best wideouts in College football. A top 10 NFL talent (Top 5 if not for all the QBs) and 2nd and 3rd rounders to follow. I think he was a consensus middle 1st rounder pick and then ONE game (National Championship where yah he was off some) pretty much slid him way back... but then he had the best combine/pro day out of all the QBs so now everyone is saying he could go as high as 12 to the Broncos... who knows.

It's very baffling to me McCarthy is now top 5, and Penix was being talked in the 2nd round. If he falls to the 2nd someone IMO gets a steal. If Penix can sit for a year (ideal for Seattle who will start Smith for one more year) that would do HUGE things for him.. he could develop a little better footwork and vision. Penix has the best arm in this class and it's not even close (and not just distance either).

I'm fascinated by Nix. Oregon didn't ask him to do much but when asked to throw downfield he did it well.

if he did,nt have he injury history,he would be a potential number 1 pick.

I'd be terrified of this scenario if I was a Vikings fan. It would mean they are the only team interested in McCarthy.

I do think the Vikings would give up the world to get up to #3 to get Maye. I think the Raiders would do the same at #3 to get Daniels. Patriots evaluation of the QBs is huge.

Hope not.
Somewhere between 22/23 to 27/28 is a dead zone for Skill players.
Along time back I did a research on that. (Why I dont remember the exact spots LOL)
Even though I believe Aaron Rodgers landed in that area, the chances of you being happy with that skill pick later on in life, is not very good chances.
I remember (sorta) Bills & Browns trading with Cowboys into this dead zone to get their QBs. Oops!
We get players like Felix Jones. Not exactly horrible, but we are talking 1st rd. picks.

Anyways. Long story short, unless something crazy happens like a top ten pick falling that far. I prefer to stay away from skill players in that area. Best scenario. Trade out of that area, but if we stay I think if offense, it will interior line as well.
