I'd rather pAss on MM and pickup the kid from Oregon State in the 3rd round.

Give me a stud WR I the first and maybe the second.

This draft is loaded with OL and since Chip wants the smaller mobile ones, they won't go in the first few rounds.

I think Kevin Johnson and Jalen Collins will go before the first round is over. Teams are always starved for corners, and those guys fit the taller corner mold everyone wants now. Collins seems like a real boom or bust prospect--he has only started 10 games!

They could make do with the receivers on the roster as starters if they needed to. Not ideal, but they could make it work. I don't know if that is true with defensive backs. For that reason, I really think you have to draft for the defensive backfield in round one, and maybe round 2 as well.

Sean Mannion? I don't think he can play in the NFL due to suspect arm strength. He will likely be around in like the 6th round.

He seems to have had a pretty good Pro day.

Good God no! I like Matthews but not as a #1 yet. And Cooper and Huff would be good for 500 yards between them. Gotta get a WR in round 1 or 2 or both.

I'm good with the D right now if the other S spot is filled with an existing player. I always liked Reynolds even if he didn't play and I think Wolf or Watkins would be fine now that the other spots were upgraded.

Chip reportedly said today that he might move Mathews outside, which we all suspected. He also said he thinks this is a deep WR draft. I suspect he does not draft a receiver until the middle rounds, and takes offensive linemen and defensive backs in rounds 1-3.

You need to think in terms or skill positions weapons as a whole rather than just WR. I can see Huff and Matthews being the outside receivers with Cooper backing them up, and then use Ertz as the big slot guy and Sproles as the fast slot guy.

Ryan Matthews and DeMarco Murray are also excellent pass catchers. Here is a pair of 6 foot 220 lb guys that can run a 4.4 and both have caught more than 50 passes in a season. They are both stronger and faster than Maclin. You can get them the ball in space and be just as successful as you are with Maclin. WR and RB are really just labels.

I look for chip to draft a QB after the 1st round: Hundley; Petty; Grayson; or Bennett. That's my guess. I haven't been a big Petty fan, but he does get rid of the ball quickly. Hundley and Bennett are the most mobile. Grayson is one to watch. He's ready to start in his second year in the league.

I think on draft day or immediately after they move Barkley for a late round pick. Then replace him with their own late round QB pick, or if that fails it will be Tebow time.

Absolutely not. Neither Matthews or Huff is going to get downfield and stretch out the D. That allows the safeties to play up, which also hurts our run game. RBs coming out of the backfield are not going to stretch the D either. This team better get at least one major receiving threat with size or speed or every D is gonna load the front and get after Bradford.

Unfortunately I don't think he's worth a late round pick even, more likely move him and a 7th for a 6th.

Have you even looked at the physical characteristics of Matthews, Huff, Sproles, Murray and Matthews? 4 out of 5 tested faster than Maclin and 4 out of 5 are bigger than Maclin .

Draft Breshad Perriman in Rd 1 and it should solve some of those problems... ran a 4.25 at his pro day, hand-timed twice by different scouts. 4.25 at 6-3 212 lbs is ridiculous.

I don't know who your source is, but I believe that Maclin is/was a 4.4 forty guy, and he claimed that he is a 4.3 guy. Just sayin'.

Wikipedia has their combine numbers. Double checking them, they have Maclin listed at 4.45 (pre surguery obviously), while Jordan Matthews is listed at 4.46, Huff at 4.51, Sproles at 4.47, Murray at 4.41 and Ryan Mattews at 4.45. And all but Sproles are bigger guys.

Matthews has the best opportunity to be the star here now. He is bigger and taller than Maclin and should be able to fill that roll.

I do expect them to draft a WR, but I think the guy the draftee is most likely going to be a first year bench warner while Huff, Cooper and Matthews man the WR jobs and we see alot more of Sproles and Ertz in the slot.

Higher priority is to get:
1. A DB or 2 that can compete immediately for starting at both Safety and CB.
2. An offensive lineman. I do think Barbre starts opening day, but at this point if they have just about any OL injury this team is cooked. They have serious depth issues.

When you compare WR against those two needs is why I think they could survive with a late round receiver prospect relatively speaking.

And three of them are not WRs. You can't stretch the field starting from the backfield.

I like Matthews but I'm not convinced he's a reliable #1 WR yet. He had the luxury of being covered by #2-4 CBs all last year. Huff? What did he do last year? Barely got on the field as a WR.

Give me at the very least 1 good WR prospect in the first two rounds.

Do you really think any WR drafted 20 or later is going to be better than Matthews in year one?
