Megatron.

Problem is man-on-man would never happen. Sherman would be getting All-Pro safety help over the top.

One on one you would take the equivalent WR but thats not how football works because football is 11 on 11 and someone has to throw the ball on offense.

I like Richard Sherman because he's fearless but he creates a lot of his own hype. Megatron lets his play on the field do his talking.

Most defenses play with two safetys over the top but Seattle plays with only one deep safety, Kam Chancellor's primary role is essentially as another LB. This leaves the corners in one on ones on the outside a lot. There seems to be this funny suggestion that Seattle gives their only deep safety help to their best corner all the time no matter who he is covering to make him look better. Its false, watch the tape, Sherman makes a lot of plays on the ball with no help around, especially when he gets tried deep.

I don't think anyone could check Johnson 1 on 1, no shame for Sherman. I'm not even sure DSanders could, and he's the GOAT

That is why I picked Calvin. Dude is a freak of nature. He catches bombs in triple coverage.

Would Earl Thomas be over the top to help? If not, lots of WR's would be burning Sherman.

I voted for Calvin

But this is such an oversimplified and ill-informed take on the structure of Seattle's defense and Thomas and Sherman's roles in it.

I agree, there's a lot more to offense and defense than this guy against that guy. I think individual skills favor Johnson by a lot , but factor in the rest of the field and the gap narrows quickly

Thomas, Chancellor, and a good pass rush from the front will make any CB look better.

Calvin, easily.

I think the situation created is an unfair one as the team sport angle was mentioned earlier.
I will say that Tron is the "type" (Big physical) of WR that Sherm has had success with.

I think this is a pretty easy choice. Not because Johnson is that much better than Sherman as Sherman is a beast of a corner but the rules of the league just swing the advantage to the receiver big time. Plus really there are no parameters set up on this of how long does Johnson have to get open? Who is throwing him the ball? And many more questions that can play into this.

I do think if there is a corner in the league that can match up decently with Johnson it is Sherman. I will say though Johnson has the combination of both strength (get off the press coverage) and speed (quite a bit faster than Sherman so his height and closing ability would be tougher to do on a guy like Johnson).

Right now I would say not knowing all the parameters that Johnson wins this battle 7 out of 10 times.
