If some one were offering more than us, he would be on the plane already. So in this case you call and see if he is bluffing. Dont get me wrong, I think he would be a very nice piece to add. But not something you go all in on right now. Stick to the plan. Make a deal on our terms. If we were not willing to over pay our own guys (which we were not) we should not over pay some one from outside. Which to this point we really havent.

Would you rather pay Orakpo 10 or Jackson 10?

Orakpo is getting 11 this year lol

Right! Dude is M.I.A every time we play an NFC East team, and we just gave him 11.5 million of our available cap space. I like Rak, but he doesn't bring what Jackson brings.

Per season... rak. But Im a big fan of paying your own first. How ever, its all about what it takes to put together a good team. Personally i would pay them both.. to a point. I dont think we should have to give a guy who just got cut $10 million a year... But I also realize that if we dont make him a deal close to it, the Raiders, Niners or Brown will. Actually hoping we sign rak long term before the deadline. And even with Jackson I still think we need one more WR. But I would take Coleman in the 4th if we get Jackson. If not, might have to push for Benjamin if he is there in the 2nd.

I pretty much agree with everything you just said. Gotta get that 11.5 off the books, and if they can get a deal done with Jax where he only counts maybe 3.5 or 4 against the cap this year we won. I just don't think you let this guy get away. Too talented.

You dont pay guys from outside better than you pay your own. Its bad business. And in the end, your good players end up leaving as soon as they can if they feel you will lowball them but roll out the red carpet for some one elses talent. The longer this takes, the better for the Skins. If we dont get him, we need two WRs, if we do, we still need one with some height and good hands.

RAK and it's not close. RAK has never been a malcontent and eventually you slow down for DJ. Last thing I want to hear two years into a five year deal with us is...I need more money. I can't feed my kids on 10 mil/season...that's basically what he did to the Eagles

Agree but if we get him, Benjamin to me falls way down because he will never see the field...well hardly ever.

You didnt watch the Bengals much the last few years did you?? they carried 7 WR for a reason. Gruden has a habit of platooning his WRs. He likes having two solid slot guys, and he does run a 4 wide from time to time as well. But I agree, if we get Jax, we can wait til the 3rd or 4th to get a young WR with some size. Preferably the 4th since Im hoping we draft Baptiste in the 3rd.

Zero excuses for the QB this year. He might have the most weapons in the NFL, certainly top 5.

At this point, it seems like even if we don't improve our defense dramatically in the draft, we can still get away with winning games 34-31.

Changes our draft scheme considerably, we can now focus more on defense and linemen only.

HTTR, Today was a great day.

Still needs a better line that can pass block and give the WR's time for separation, as good as Jax is I'll take a great line with average receivers over an average line with great receivers any day :nutswing:

My bet is OL becomes a focus in the draft. But also realize that teams will not be able to just all out blitz like they did last year. Our passing offense will feature a huge amount of 3 step drops and quick hits to get the ball into playmakers hands. Then when Defenses back off to cover those passes, we go over the top or we run it down their throats. This all makes any OL look better.

Let's say we focus on OL in the draft, whatever that means. What do you actually think they are going to do?

2nd- probably a starter
3rd- backup- Josh Leribeus already on the team
4th-backup-
5th-backup- alred on the team

The most you can get RG this season is one OL.

Should have been more specific. I mean with their first pick, looking for a RT. But they don't need to reach. If one of the top RTs doesn't fall, they should have options to still find a starter (or soon to be) at another position.

As for Leribeus, unless he has a miraculous turnaround, I won't be surprised if he doesn't make this team. He was a bad pick from the beginning. Shanahan has never been good at evaluating and drafting OL. He missed way more than he hit. A new coach has nothing to prove by hanging onto him. Who knows, maybe Allen can get something for him in trade. Because of this, I bet they also go interior lineman with a later round pick.

Actually, I think LeRibeus fits the scheme better...bigger and nastier with a mean streak. If his work ethic improved then I think he will surprise people this season...if it didn't, cut him.
