Apparently, I'm the first sports fan in history to be glad to see a hated rival lose?

No, but you're calling them frauds when your team was the biggest fraud in recent memory and you're pretending that you weren't surprised they got rocked.

The Chiefs were frauds during the first half of the season. i already admitted to that. But the biggest frauds in recent memory? That's way out there. The donkeys rode their fraud all the way to the Super Bowl. I'd say that makes them by far the bigger fraud. And I wasn't surprised that Seattle destroyed them. The only Super Bowls the donkeys haven't been blown out in were the ones where they had to cheat the salary cap to win.

I'm always said:
a New England team missing a ton of key players due to injuries

Oh yea, such a detriment, so much so that NE was only top 10 in rushing, top 10 in total yards, third in PPG, and had a top 10 defense. Oh yea, those injuries really decimated them. They really had to overcome insurmountable odds.

I will give you the Broncos had good weather in the Patriots game but did you watch the San Diego game? It was low 30's with a 40 mph wind in that game. Not sure how much you have actually played football in your life if you consider that good weather to play in.

Not trying to goad anyone into anything. Most donkey fans are probably still in hiding anyway. I'm just pointing out that Manning set all those records playing against bad defenses and in an era that completely favors the offense relative to the rules. And that he is pretty much average at best when the conditions are less that perfect. And frankly the whole Manning vs Brady thing is laughable. Joe Montana never lost a Super Bowl. He's the GOAT. Though I would take Brady over Manning in a heartbeat. What NE accomplished this season given all of the devastating injuries they suffered is remarkable.

Well now that this is yet another Brady vs Manning thread I am done.

The Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers and Raiders all played the AFC South, The NFC East and one team each from the AFC East and AFC North. Then they all played each other twice. No one can call another a fraud in the AFC West. KC played Cleveland and Buffalo, Denver played Baltimore and New England, Oakland played the Jets and Pittsburgh and the Chargers played Miami and Cincinnati.
All things considered, I'd have to say that the Broncos got the toughest draw. The Chiefs got the easiest. The schedule isn't selected by the team, it's mandated by the league. If a team gets an easier schedule, it's the luck of the draw.
I find it difficult to call the Broncos a fraud since they only lost three games. Indianapolis, New England and San Diego. They didn't get slaughtered in any of those contests. The only game they got slaughtered was the one they wanted to be embarassed the least....the Super Bowl. They'll never be able to live it down......now or 100 years after they're all dead.........

Actually, Denver wasn't a fraud at all, they were the best team in the AFC, the problem was that the top teams in the NFC was just much better this year and the SB proved that. Next year, the AFC West plays the NFC West and I doubt any of them are looking forward to playing SF, SEA, STL and ARZ at all.

Not a fraud....I agree, just fucked up at the worst time. Would any AFC team have done better? I'm positive. The Broncos came with nothing to the SB. The SOS will have the AFC west hurting for sure but letting some AFC teams climb up and be in the running for the SB once again...this all goes in cycles...no team IMO will ever win a back-to-back SB again.

With us being in the Cap Era it is tough for any team to stay on top for long. The Broncos were not quite ready for the Super Bowl and just did not match the intensity of the Seahawks. I tip my hat to the Hawks for the way they played as they showed they were the best team in the NFL. Now as for the game itself I don't think the Broncos were going to win but they didn't do themselves any favors. Safety on the first play, kick off return to start the second half really took the team out of their game plan to start both halves. Throw in the untimely turnovers when they were actually driving down the field at times. I understand that is Seattle's game plan to wait for the team to make a mistake. I just don't see the Broncos doing that every time as they had been pretty good most of the season at finishing drives.

No you're just wrong.

Stats man.

4 losses = NFW on the best ever argument.

best offensive production doesn't need to lead to best record. They were still statistically the best offense.

Agree, anybody playing the NFC west can just mark out those games as losses right now.

The donkeys were never all that they were made out to be. They merely benefited from playing a schedule full of pathetic defenses. In the few regular season games where they played even a mediocre defense, they were not dominant. And in fact, the only reason they were even able to make it to the Superbowl is because of freakishly good weather in Denver during their two home playoff games. Combine that with playing a San Diego team that lucked into the playoffs and a New England team missing a ton of key players due to injuries, the donks never really had a chance against a battle tested Seattle team. Reality will continue to hit Manning and the donkeys next season too.

In terms of them being the greatest OFC in the history of the game, etc...you're right, I think that was always more hype that substance.

Getting to the SB...they earned it...I don't care what the weather was or wasn't like...bottomline SEA was a better team...if they played tomorrow SEA probably would win again, but not by 40 pts or whatever the margin was.

Best regular season production? Sure. Best offense in the history of the league? NFW.

Not when it mattered. They were inept. They got manhandled by the best D in the league.

Give the SEAHAWKS some credit. Seattle played great.

Nobody was beating them on that day....and Denver was out of sync, making it worse

Denver would probably win 4 out of 10 times versus Seattle.
They would not likely play that poorly again

You don't go 13-3 and get to the Superbowl as frauds.

Sometimes you have a bad game.

Sometimes you play a great team playing a great game.

The two best teams in the NFL played in the Superbowl.

Denver was a worthy team....more than worthy...

Seattle was just the better team on that day.

Denver simply ran into a defense that was built to stop what they are good at doing. Getting in the face of the qb, good tackling, not allowing YAC. The screens didn't work because Seattle's db's were able to shed blocks and the de's were fast enough to catch the players from behind. Manning isn't accurate enough on long passes to open the defense up. And the ability to go man on man on the receivers. I think Denvers defense was legitimately one of the best offenses in history, they just ran into one of the best defenses in history that matched up with them perfectly.
