So Seattle loses at home to the Cardinals and they stay #1, no movement. Back when the Seahawks were mediocre I believed that ESPN was super biased against the Seahawks but this really surprises me. They don't even drop after how badly the offense looked against the Cardinals.

But that is not what stunned me, what stunned me is that the Cardinals dropped one spot in ESPN's power rankings after beating the NFC's best team at home. Coming into that game Seattle was 14-0 with Russell Wilson at QB at home, and the Cardinals get no credit for beating the Seahawks in the NFL's most difficult stadium to win in?

NFL Power Rankings Week 17 - National Football League - ESPN

ESPN do you even logic?

This makes no sense. You beat the top rated team and drop in the rankings? :L They should be at 7, IMO. Put them ahead of the Bengals and Colts.

The power of the 12th man is beyond measure. So powerful, teams drop in the rankings even if they beat us. All Hail the 12th man. Amen.

ESPNs logic has always failed me. NFL and NBA wise.

I don't get the logic behind power rankings. This isn't college.

We have a playoff system and the Seahawks are GOING to be in it so if they're the best team, they'll hoist the Lombardi in Feb.

Where anyone is 'ranked' along the way by some poll has no meaning.

The teams that jumped the Cardinals also had impressive wins. Seems reasonable to me.

Russel Wilson was *14-0 at home.

Is this a reference to the fail mary game? Even if you'd won that game and played the 49ers at home in the playoffs, it wouldn't have stopped the Packers from playing crappy, undisciplined defense against Kaepernicks read option. You probably would have gotten knocked out of the playoffs ANYWAY.

I know my post sound mean, but in a way, it makes the fail mary game look a lot more trivial. Merry Christmas!

ESPN went full retard a while back. I personally never use them as a source for sports info.

They aren't too bad for reporting actual news. But 99% of the time, when one of their "experts" predict something or give their own opinions, it tends to be absolute bullshit.

I remember back in 2001 Marc Stein went on a rampage telling us how bad the Lakers would be in the playoffs, only to finish 15-1. After every round he would go on about them no standing a chance. Idiot!

Power rankings. Meaning today which team is the most likely to win on a neutral field.

In power rankings it isnt the poll to hit the overreact button when a team loses.

Seattle should still be at least two and a great case could be made for #1.

I have them 1 still.

Seriously, every team loses a game in an NFL season and when they do lose it doesnt mean they still arent the best team with the best chance to beat anyone on any given Sunday.

For the record, I am a Pacific NW guy who doesnt cheer for Seattle... So this is not a homer statement above. Just a view from a neutral fan.

Not reasonable at all, if all 3 teams have impressive wins, then they should at the very least, be left where they were. The obvious ESPN bias for the so-called "America's team" was front and center too, I see. The Cowboys had the highest jump (3 places) by barely squeezing out a win over the lowly Skins. Before anybody jumps all over me for that statement, yes, they rallied in the 4th qtr and won and it's a nice story but it was the freaking Skins. They should have never had to rally.

Spoken like a fan that isn't familiar with that rivalry. That game was the Redskins Super Bowl. They have "hate week" leading up to that game every year. The team, the fans, even their local media get up for that game. This isn't to say Dallas is great, but the Skins don't exactly have a "hate week" for anyone else. If they go 1-15, that's the game they gotta have.

This. ESPN must be shitting themselves trying to get any team from the east or from a JJ team (your donations are welcomed ,Jerry) up higher in these rankings. In the real world these rankings mean nothing. Have fun with these stupid rankings for the final week! :suds:
