Hmm, I'd have to go with NFC North. Their D Line would be beyond stupid and the thought of an offense that features Rodgers to Megatron, nobody is beating that. Throw in Marshall, Alshon and then AP and Bush out of the backfield, it's silly.

their d-line would be beyond stupid? please why is that? What makes it beyond stupid? Suh is a good player, but who else on that line would make it "beyond stupid"?

It really is sad the way today's fans see the game. You see how well great defenses play. Imagine the NFC West all star defensive lineup. There's just no way you can move the ball on that. No matter how many weapons you throw on the field. Defense > Offense. Yes, QBs might have the most impact on the game, but an elite defense can take that impact away.

I agree. A great defense can shut a great offense down and I'll prove it in my next post.

Exactly. I think people just think this is Madden or Fantasy football. The QB wont be able to sit comfortably back there and the receiver routes will be disrupted by chipping LBs and a secondary that will get in your face.

Here's the thing though, not every single person on every team can play! We get it, the NFC West has good defensive teams but only 11 of them can play. You can find 11 comparable players in other divisions, you could argue that the defenses will be a wash. Offesnively I think the NFC North is better than the NFC West.

You can rotate défensive players to maintain physicality, i.e. the Giants super bowl défensive lines. You cant however rotate offensive players because of timing. If this was à 53 man roster, 27-28 défensive players from the NFCW would see the field.

It isn't sad -- it is reality. If an elite defense shuts down an elite offense. Explain to me how San Francisco was one of the top defenses in the entire NFL and in two playoffs games -- they gave up 31, 24 and 34 in the playoffs. Next example -- Denver. Ranked #2 in total defense last year. Baltimore puts up 38 on them and they are one and done. Seattle -- the did a good job against Washington, but gave up 30 points to Atlanta and they were done.

So out of the top 4 defenses in the NFL last year -- 3 were in the playoffs, 1 missed the playoffs altogether (pittsburgh), in 6 games -- they gave up 30 or more points 4 times.

You can scream from the rooftops about defense, but the NFL IS A PASSING LEAGUE NOW. Here are the total points scored from the divisional round till the Super Bowl:
58, 76, 69, 73, 52, 41, 65.

PLEASE tell me again how defense is greater than offense in today's game. You want to know what a good defense is greater than???? A mediocre offense or team who doesn't have a good QB.

I agree, it's really all about the o line. Secondary is setup for failure, beneift of the doubt will almost always go to the receiver so it's all up to the pass rush to get pressure. If the o line can neutralize the pass rush then the advantage shifts to offense. Since we're talking about all star teams here, in my opinion All Star O-Line > All Star Front 7.

As long as Kam Chancellor can shut down A.P. This secondary will eat that receiving core. The front 7 would destroy any offensive line. A good defense trumps a good offense.

But that offense is much better than that defense, so advantage = superior offensive firepower. This is not 2 equal squads we're talking about here.

Best QB, best WR, and best RB in the NFL is laughable? I suppose you need to take the comedy angle when your favorite team is the Seahags, but the rest of us have serious rooting interest in this.

For the record, I'm impartial in this, my team is in the NFC East so I have no particular rooting interest in the NFC North vs West debate. I give the nod to the North, their offense is just far more dangerous in my opinion. An All Star O-Line for the best RB in the league, the best wideout in the league and arguably the best QB in the league (top 3 at least).

NFC East on the other hand, weak secondary and who is the QB? Eli? Nick Foles? Romo? Yuck.

^ Thanks, impartial party. No one is saying the North is a better division than the West this year, just that the North all-star offense would take it to the West all-star defense.

The nfcn offense would be more talented than any other division. But there would still only be one ball, with lots of great nfcw defenders flying to it.
