The Cardinals defense offended me. Some pine tar in the glove sure as hell doesn't.

haven't read the whole thread and NO ONE would call me a boston fan...but did anyone get the glove? Maybe that isn't a substance but a worn spot on the thread. We have guys with nervous ticks, hat adjustments, spitting, all sorts of odd routines. Maybe touching that spot on his glove is a habit?

A quick check of the glove would tell us though. If it is all of a sudden clean, then it was a substance. If that is a worn spot on the glove from being rubbed 100 times a game for the last however long...then there is your answer.

I haven't condoned cheating , moron. I have been against any form of cheating and stated so in other threads. By the way, I think you have thumbed down more posts than ten other people combined. Grow up, kid.

It is clearly a wad of something. We'll find out soon.

Do you really think we'll find out? I'd imagine MLB would just want this to be over and done with. Are they investigating?

John Farrell admitted Lester was cheating...

(not his actual words, but he explained that Lester sweats and needs resin in his glove...which is cheating...)

It was resin..allegedly.

Even if it was Vaseline, I don't think the Cardinals get 9 runs last night if nothing was used.

Wasn't their night.

Which isn't legal.

What a shame. It's the World Series. Why not have some integrity, Boston?

Look at the green-ish/yellow splotch in the pic. Then watch how he swipes his fingers over it before getting set for his next pitch in the video clip.

Disgusting.

FYI, it's Jonathan Lester, not John Lester.

That doesn't make the charge you made against him any less absurd, but is worth pointing out, IMO.

What I want to know is how can anyone actually say Lester cheated? The umpires certainly didn't say he was cheating and he was never caught cheating by anyone else that mattered.

Unless your actually caught cheating no one can claim with any certainty that you were cheating.

Like Fordham said before, " the Cardinals are the biggest bunch of selfrigtheous pricks. " Always pissing and moaning or crying over one thing or the other.

Saying he cheated is not a "charge," it's a fact.

His own manager admitted as much.

The only thing absurd here is that a handful of feebs can't handle facts. I'm especially surprised at you, Brahmsian, because you're generally not like that at all.

Jon Lester: "“... I can honestly tell you that all I use is rosin."

Rosin is illegal for pitchers to use. That's cheating whether you can comprehend it or not. It's good to see that he admitted what a few infantile "fans" can't wrap their minds around.

John Farrell: "he needs rosin"

Again, rosin is illegal for pitchers to use. That's cheating, and even his manager admitted it.

Glad to see neither of them lied, at least.

Read his quotes or read Farrells quotes.

And, I'm not complaining because we lost, I don't think it made a difference in the game. What I don't understand is why something like this is being swept under the rug. "Everyone does it" isn't a logical excuse because it's being used to help him gain an advantage. They should change the rules or punish people who break them. I don't think it should effect game one but he should be suspended for the start of the 2014 season. I don't see how it has anything to do with the Cardinals. I don't know any Cardinals that actually complained about it.

Please notice that I called it "strong evidence", not "proof."

Having considered becoming a lawyer when I was a teenager I am well aware of the difference.

You would have been a great lawyer finding facts "absurd" and all.

Wow.

I'll just chalk this lapse in reasoning on your part up to enthusiasm for your excellent team making it to the WS and winning game 1. I'm not a Boston fan at all, but the team is undeniably excellent.

Matheny even downplayed it.

It's still cheating, and a real shame, no matter how badly Lester sweats.

My two cents.... yes it looks like something is on his glove yes that one clip looks like he is wiping something on his fingers, That being said there are cameras every where and yet there is only one photo of it. If I am using a substance to cheat its being used all game not just by one batter. To me there is not enough evidence of wrong doing. and even if you believe there was, as you stated it is from the seventh inning by then they are already down 8-0

Missed the Farrell quote since I rarely watch post-game shows.

If rosin is against the rules why is there a rosin bag on every pitching mound?
