If you gave me a choice between Strasburg and Zimmermann, I'd choose Zimmermann. That's for a few different reasons beyond pure ability though. Honestly, I'll take any of the Nats' starters if they're on the market. From a Pirates fan perspective that takes them from contender to one of the favorites. And yes, that's how I'd feel about getting any of their starters...well, except maybe Gio. I'd still be pumped though, he's an upgrade over our 4/5 situation.

Gio would immediately step into the "best pitcher on the staff" conversation with Cole and Liriano, and he'd honestly probably be #1 right now. He's also got the best contract, and is a lefty, so he might be the best guy for the Pirates to actually pursue.

On the other hand, for those same reasons, I think he's the least likely for the Nats to deal. Seriously, his contract is a thing of beauty. Four more years, $11 million in the first, then $12 million in each of the next three, with two of those being option years, and only the final year being a vesting option. I mean, that's unreal value for a pitcher of his caliber, and it's still amazing value if he regresses at the end of the contract to being just average.

I know people rarely ever talk about NASCAR, but Jeff Gordon announced he's retiring full-time after the 2015 season

He was my favorite driver growing up and I glad I got to see pretty much his entire career(I'll be turning 21 in a few months) - I don't think there will be another driver I love anywhere close as much as him - he was a legend in every sense

I wonder how Nas, Rit and Vee are doing these days.

Nas occasionally posts on FB, but very occasionally. Seems like he's doing well from my very far perspective. Rit tweeted the other day for the first time in like a year...but I'm not sure if it was actually him...because it was about painting a canvas or something. So, those two are still kickin'. Not a clue on Vee.

Damn, I knew it was bad, didn't know it was this bad:

More important, the Nationals are a huge hurdle. The Mets actually had a .524 winning percentage against teams that were not the Nationals last season. In other words, had the Mets just played the Nationals as they did every one else, they may have won 85 games last season. Now, obviously, baseball doesn’t work this way. The Nationals are in the NL East, the Mets will play them and it is what it is. What’s worse, it was not just a 2014 issue. The Nationals are actually 41-15 against the Mets the last three seasons.

I thought I saw either a post from ritari or that he thumbed up a post in the footy thread last week, so he's definitely lurking 'round these parts.

I do remember seeing him in lurk mode a couple of months ago.

Well I'll be damned.

An alternate sports uniform where my first reaction wasn't to throw up.

That should be their standard uniform if you ask me.

I guess it's not a bad thing - if he pitches well enough they can move him at the deadline

Random, but hey, it's the bored thread. Parents may finally be moving to FLA, as my dad is close to locking down a job. Is it wrong that I realllllly don't want them to go, even if I know it'll be best for their health/happiness? Any semblance of a security blanket would vanish, and I'd be like an official adult, and that's scary as hell. Also I'm overly sentimental and lived in their house from the age of 3-23...and man that's gonna bum me out.

That's a natural feeling. In this country, people/families move a lot, but I've always felt close to home. This place isn't much to look at from the outside, but damn it...it's MY shithole!!
