Rizzo signs with Yanks 20/20/6 buyout
Joc accepts the QO
Very team friendly contract for the Spanks. They basically gave Rizzo the same contract that Belt got 3 years ago, except that the 3rd year is a team option.

Zaidi says it’s very important for La Stella to be able to play multiple positions next year for among others reasons, the high likelihood that Pederson will DH quite a bit.

I'm a little shocked Tommy Stars is still on the team, tbh.

That is a bit of a weird statement from Zaidi considering that LaStella plays mostly infield and Pederson somewhat attempts to play mostly left field.

Let's see, so Zaidi says the team needs to get younger and more athletic. Yet he's also said that Yaz, Wade, LaStella and Pederson are coming back. I know that those can be empty words but its interesting that some many under performing, mainly older players are being given a chance on the team again.

Somewhat attempts?

Dude doesn’t try jack shit. He flat out said he had no intention to improve his defense.

I am OK with bringing Wade back. I am somewhat OK with bringing Yaz back. Stars and Pedo have no business being on the roster next year.

It’s probably not very visible in the picture, but I just drove by Oracle Park and the scoreboard is illuminated with NPB star Kodai Senga in a #SFGiants uniform with the #41. It’s been reported #SFGameUp is interested in the free-agent righty and seems like a visit is imminent.

Let us know if you see the scoreboard illuminated with a big RHH wearing Number 99 whose initials are AJ.

Here’s a list of the best OPS+ in baseball this season, minimum 400 plate appearances:
1. Aaron Judge, 211 OPS+
2. Yordan Alvarez, 187
3. Paul Goldschmidt, 180
4. Mike Trout, 178
5. José Altuve, 160
6. Manny Machado, 159
7. Nolan Arenado, 154
8. Freddie Freeman, 152
9. Juan Soto, 149
10. José Ramírez, 148
11. Julio Rodríguez, 147
12. Pete Alonso, 146
13. Shohei Ohtani, 145
14. Bryce Harper, 145
15. Joc Pederson, 144
And, of course, we are talking about #1 and #15 here.
#1 outperformed his previous best OPS+ by 40 points, set in 2017. He will turn 31 less than a month into the 2023 season and will likely sign at least an 8 year deal (maybe less, if the AAV is high). There are some health concerns associated with him (he's missed some time on the IL almost every season of his career and he's huge!) and its likely the tail end of his contract will be a major drag on whatever team is paying him at that time. His defense is adequate. Its not bad but its not good either. That will change as he ages. However, his OPS+ has never been below 143 and there is no reason to think that he won't continue very good offensive production for at least another 3 years. And he's a Fresno State graduate so there is that going for him as well.
#15 outperformed his previous best OPS+ by 18 points, set in 2016 and again in 2019. He will also turn 31 less than a month into the 2023 season and is locked into a one year deal. He also has some health concerns but doesn't make as many appearances on the IL. His defense is horrible! Its so bad that, if playing the field for a full season, it negates any positives that his bat brings. Unless he changes his mind and begins to work on his fitness and his defense, this will only get worse (think poor man's Adam Dunn). His OPS+ has been more wild, dipping below 100 in 3 of his 8 full seasons. Now he is a Hebrew, so he has that going for him.

They just talked about this photo on M&M. They are talking to Kruk and talked about what this means.

My updated prediction: Bassitt, Senga, Nimmo, Bogaerts
So that would leave us with…

C Bart
1B Villar/Davis/Flores (??)
2B Estrada/Flores
SS Crawford/Bogaerts
3B Bogaerts/Villar/Flores
LF Wade/Yaz/Slater
CF Nimmo
RF Wade/Yaz/Slater
DH Pedo

Webb
Bassitt
Senga
Cobb
Disco

I REALLY dislike that OF, but that rotation looks nice, especially with Harrison knocking on the door.

Of course, that's not skewed toward your love of 1-0 games now, is it?

Although, as much as I would like to see us land Judge, it (probably) makes better business sense to sign 3 solid starters than one monster. Diversification and all that.

I just want to see us contend again. Having a total payroll of half the max won't do that.

Judge will end up being a bad sign for whoever gets him. That doesn’t mean the fan in me doesn’t want us to land him. I just acknowledge that at the end of the day, that is pure emotion and zero logic.

I would still like to see at least 2 OFers added and a 1B.

It's the business logic of fans' emotions. Remember the days of Teh Lord? He filled the seats, and when he was batting, everyone stopped what they were doing. The crowd would start to go nuts just by the count going to 2-0. Judge will be that kind of player.
