@RobBase

The following clip is Exactly why you have Hutch inside, in certain situations, on a passing down. It's the matchup he has, plus you have Austin Bryant as a 7-tech strongside and Charles Harris 7-tech on the weakside along with John Cominsky as a shaded 5-tech.

You bitched and ranted about why DC/AG would ever use Hutch this way. Here is your answer.

From DC today.

“It’s a lot more difficult than even last year,” Campbell said. “You know, it was tough last year, but this year, because we are so much farther along—and it’s a credit to Brad because our talent level is better, and the competition is better, and I’ll just say it again, the better the competition, the better the players rise to that occasion.”

Campbell took things a little further, noting that he believes some players who were contributors last year will probably not be around this year.

“We’re going to probably have to let go of some players that were here all last year that we depended, did everything we asked them to do and produce for us last year, but that’s the sign of progress too,” Campbell said.

Other quotes from DC today at his press conference

On Chase Lucas:

“We like Lucas. Just what he’s been able to do. He’s a pretty smart kid, and he’s got a lot of energy, a lot of passion. But he’s one of those guys we’re talking about right now, ‘What do we do?’ But I would say there’s nothing that’s been disappointing about what he’s done to this point.”

On the possibility of seeking a quarterback from another team or waiver wire:

“I think the best way to answer it is whoever is out there, you have to know it’s a clear upgrade from what’s already in this building—would be the best way to say it. Because if it’s not, then why would you do it?”

On positions they’ll be looking at on the waiver wire:

“I would say everything’s available. We’re looking. Anywhere where we feel like we could upgrade since we’re two on the (waiver wire) claim list, we’re looking.”

On Godwin Igwebuike’s lack of preseason snaps:

“I think we have a real good feel of what Godwin can do because we got a full season of it last year and so, we have a real good grasp of that. And so, then it was let’s give (Lions WR Maurice) Alexander an opportunity, let’s give (Lions RB) Craig (Reynolds) an opportunity, let’s give (Lions RB Justin) Jackson an opportunity last night.

On any standouts in the kick return battle:

“I thought Jackson and Craig yesterday both had good returns, now there was a couple of penalties that make them look real good. But I think both of those guys showed that they have the ability to get what’s there and so that’s a starting point.”

On the upcoming decision whether to take Jerry Jacobs off PUP or not:

“That’s another one that we’re talking about, and that’s a tough one, because if we don’t PUP him, that’s a spot, and we don’t see him being ready for Philly, so that’s another one up for debate.”

For a list of players released or waived, click on a Team and then scroll down a little bit and on the right-hand side you'll see a box listed as Transactions. Click on view more and it brings up an entire page of the teams' transactions.

from Pride of Detroit. All alleged previous moves are being reported by Rapoport - Davis, Birkett - Lamm, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz - Funchess and PFN365's Aaron Wilson - Kalil Pimpleton
The Lions did not officially make any roster moves on Monday, but if these reports are accurate, the Lions roster now sits at 76 players.

Boyle is out. Now we have 1 shitty backup qb instead of 2

Once again with the Harris issue. He isn't going to be waived even many of us believe he should. He's one player who can play any 4 of the CB or Safety positions in this scheme albeit extremely poorly many times.

From DC yesterday

“Will has done a good job out there as well now,” Campbell said. “We know Will can play out there, but we think there’s other things Will can do for us as well. Besides special teams, he can probably play a little nickel for us, he can play some dime, so his versatility is something that we really value as well.”
I can play all 4 DB positions as well as he can. Does not mean I should be on a team.:sigh:

No big surprises. Most of these guys played their way out of a job Sunday. Pimpleton probably goes on PS and Kennedy gets claimed this year IMO.

Still cant fathom how bad Jarad Davis is. He was not bad at all in college. I wish it was just an ability issue that needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, you cant fix stupid.

and NB AJ Parker as well

I'm more than surprised with waiving Parker. This is a pretty damn gutsy move.

This move makes me think that Demetrius Taylor is in, and Cornell and Hector are out. As well as Stenberg.

Pittman isn't a great loss. I was all wrong about him and got caught up in positivity thrown his way - mostly by POD writer Schlitt.

He was catching my eye during Sunday's game quite a bit and for mostly all the wrong reasons. He was being used quite a bit at Charles Harris' position during the 2nd half at weakside End. He rarely would extend his arms and twice I witnessed the LT easily push him to the ground.

Means Harris is sticking around as well. Real bummer. I would be shocked if Parker does not end up on the PS if he is not claimed. Pittman was our main special teams guy, so I am curious who fills that role.
