Godwin is gone too

Keep dreaming, but I sure hope to hell that you're correct.

Did you see that pass to him from Blough near the last minute and a half left in the game right at the goal line. Ball nearly hits him in his face mask and his eyes aren't even looking at Blough. The defender was draped all over him and should've been a DPI.

I think both Levi O and CJ Moore might be headed to IR after the final 53 and that CB Jacobs gets placed on PUP list. They have no room available to keep Jacobs on the final 53 when there are so many other player's they have to be concerned with health wise. - Melifonwu is another that hasn't been healthy for two weeks.

I see them somehow trying to keep or hopefully re-sign S Ju Ju Hughes. You also have to remember that AG and Pleasant love to employ a lot of (3) CB and (3) safety looks when in dime packages and Joseph isn't ready to trust right off the bat.

(6) CB: Okudah, Oruwariye, Parker, Price, Harris and Lucas
(5) - S: Walker, Elliot, Joseph, Melifonwu, and probably Hughes

Hughes has been steady, and more importantly healthy.

“He certainly has made a case to take a spot for us, to earn a spot for us,” Campbell said of Hughes. “He’s made that argument. He’s improved since he’s been here, and I mean I thought he was another guy who had a really good week last week. And really his camp has been good, but I thought last week, he really even progressed even more, so he’s a steady player back there. You don’t have to worry about him doing the wrong thing, he’ll be where he’s supposed to be. He’s going to make the right calls, and he’s a player that I think everybody trusts – has a lot of trust for right now.”

Will Harris needs to be cut. In 3 or 4 years he has never made a good play that I can recall. Not one. Nothing but getting burned and committing penalties... Why is he going to make this roster?

Not going to happen, but my final 53 and post 53 moves I'd make

(2) QB: Goff, Blough - and find another QB to sign to PS
(4) RB: Swift, Williams, Hulu, J. Jackson - re-sign Igwebuike and Jefferson
(4) TE: Hock, Wright, Zylstra, Mitchell
(9) OL: Decker, Jackson, Ragnow, Vaitai, Sewell, Skipper, Brown, Kraemer, Stenberg
(6) WR: Chark, AR-SB, Reynolds, Raymond, Benson (he's too important - 4 phase ST) Cephus or Kennedy. I think they keep Cephus.

(25) Offense

(5) DL: Brockers, McNeil, Buggs, Levi O., D. Taylor
(5) DE: Hutch, Harris, Bryant, Cominsky, J. Okwara
(5) LB: ugh-Anzalone, Barnes, Rodriguez, Board, Woods - re-sign Pittman to PS
(6) CB: Okudah, Oruwariye, Parker, Lucas, Price and Harris - personally I wouldn't keep Harris, but Holmes will. Price might be risked to waiver
(5) -S: Walker, Elliot, Joseph, Ju Ju Hughes, Melifonwu - I can see Holmes keeping CJ Moore and then on IR, re-sign Hughes

(26) Defense

(1) LS: Daly
(1) -P: Fox
(0) PK: I'd make it known that they'll re-sign one of them after the final 53 and re-sign the other to PS because Levi O. will be moved to IR. They did this exact move last year but that was with Bullock and Gonzalez

(2) ST

I think they keep Joshua Cornell even though he hasn't flashed in the pre-season games. NFL experience over risk/reward upside with Taylor. Personally, I'd keep Taylor over Cornell and risk the latter to sign to PS. Bruce Hector is another one they may feel more comfortable with as he was protected every week on the PS last year

Okudah officially beat out Harris.....I mean he did that the moment he proved he still had knees, but Lions coaching staff finally admitted it.

Agree with Jackson and Hulu and even Skipper, but I'm leaning that Holmes keeps Nelson, Igwebuike - not that I would retain those last two.

I'm still on board with retaining Kraemer, Stenberg, Brown and Skipper as backups and I don't give a shit that the first 3 are iOL. Kraemer is getting reps at RT and that solidifies keeping 9 OL and I don't want to take a chance on losing Stenberg if someone comes calling on Brown.

Nelson should easily clear waivers (we're 2nd in line) and if he doesn't, who the fuck cares.
If we just cut Boyle then we can do that.

They damn well better keep Jackson and Reynolds though. Jefferson or Iggy can go although I am fine with both going.

(5) DL: Brockers, McNeil, Buggs, Levi O., D. Taylor - No way Buggs is under 300 lbs though. Dude is huge.
(5) DE: Hutch, Harris, Bryant, Cominsky, J. Okwara - Romeo Romeo, where for areth though Romeo?
(5) LB: ugh-Anzalone, Barnes, Rodriguez, Board, Woods - re-sign Pittman to PS

Nice plan. See my comments in green.

If we just cut Boyle then we can do that.

Cut both of the back-up QB's. Jacksonville is the only team that is ahead of us in waiver claim priority and I cannot see them making a claim on either QB.

By doing that, it frees up roster maneuverability to do whatever with the injured players, Levi O., CJ Moore - unless they simply waive Moore and with all of the inexperience that exists for the Safety, I'm not sure BH releases Moore. Moore is currently injured. Moore has 800k in guaranteed money and then you'd have to factor in injury settlement.

If BH releases Justin Jackson, then it's a possibility that Jax makes a claim. JJ would be a back-up to Travis Etienne as they have two in-between the tackle type runners. I couldn't say the same with Igwebuike. You have to remember that DC made it clear that Godwin is clearly their KO returner "right now". Campbell told us last week that the kick return job was Igwebuike’s to lose

I definitively believe Hulu is a lock for RB3 at this time. Jefferson got the start yesterday with the ones and I believe that was a sign for him to prove if he should be kept only for the PS and not the final 53.

Nice plan. See my comments in green.

Quintez didn't even enter the game until the last 3rd of the 4th quarter. Cephus had two of his targets right at ground level by Blough.

Kennedy's drop on the possible TD catch isn't earth shattering as he was rolling over after bringing the ball in. The DB did get his hands on the ball to strip it away as Kennedy was rolling back to upright position.

Benson kept both of the last two drives alive.

It was deplorable play by both QB's all day long which hurt evaluating any of the receivers.

Keeping Cornell or possibly Bruce Hector may be more plausible as I doubt Demetrius Taylor would be claimed by Jax. Jax runs a strict 3-4 base with BIG-ENDS, and I don't see Taylor fitting that scheme. None of the above are truly viable options as high snap % 5/4i Tech that Jax uses.

Where I'm most likely wrong with my list of final 53.

Igwebuike makes the final 53 and not Justin Jackson
Stenberg is waived (Jax most likely makes a waiver claim for him). Holmes makes a waiver claim and loses.
Nelson is kept and Skipper is released, and Holmes puts a claim in for the latter.
Mike Hughes makes the final 53 instead of Lucas and Holmes makes a waiver claim on the latter.
CJ Moore makes the final 53 and then is moved to IR. Holmes waives Ju Ju Hughes and makes a waiver claim for him.

Once again with the Harris issue. He isn't going to be waived even many of us believe he should. He's one player who can play any 4 of the CB or Safety positions in this scheme albeit extremely poorly many times.

From DC yesterday

“Will has done a good job out there as well now,” Campbell said. “We know Will can play out there, but we think there’s other things Will can do for us as well. Besides special teams, he can probably play a little nickel for us, he can play some dime, so his versatility is something that we really value as well.”

If waived or released the following player's dead money

Tim Boyle 1.75M
David Blough 205k
Stenberg 370K
CJ Moore 800k
Mike Huges 1M
Chris Board 1M - highly doubtful he is released
Josh Woods 750k - highly doubt he is released

I would hate to see Stenberg waived. As Mebert stated, he's finally showing he can play in the league and not just against opponents #2 and #3 players.

I scoured through every team's QB's to see potential/possible available upon release or waived.

I have no idea if any of the following will be available.

The first two I think might be able to come in as an immediate backup to Goff, but still might struggle with a new system. Both White and Rudolph are nearly Goff's size and style of QB, but neither possess much scrambling ability. They're similar to Goff in being more pocket passer.

I also don't have an idea of what their cost might be, but I doubt it would be significantly more than Boyle's contract.

For backup PS type QB, if they were to be waived, maybe the following are possibilities.

Ehlinger is built like an RB and when scrambling out of the pocket downfield, he runs with authority like an RB. He can be slow to process the field at times, however he has a better arm than Blough.

Carson Strong went undrafted and I'm not sure why he chose to sign with the Eagles. Are his knees healed. He had surgery on one of them during his R.S. Soph season and didn't look quite the same last year. He had some ability to scramble prior, but he is more of a pocket passer and does possess a fairly strong arm. Some of his deep throws were awesome to watch.

Sam Martin is cut from the Broncos. Do we want cut an elite punter for the opportunity to have Martin shank it in critical moments?

I think Carson strong was the best QB in this draft, if his knee is healthy I would love to have him as the backup. Would be an awesome pick up.

If you watch his last year, he was elite to start the year, but as the year went on he lost all mobility and was not the same player. It was not his first knee issue. Knee is a huge question, but if he can get that fixed he will have a long career and will start at some point.
