Bruins got Zanon from Wild.

Good trade for the B's as long as they didn't give up too much. I like Zanon's game. Too bad they didn't trade for him last night, bastard injured Cooch.

Hah... I don't know which prospects have actually come back to bite him in the ass but it's a good question.

I'll try to do some research later. I know there have been a couple.

This is the most disappointing season/deadline that the sharks have had in doug wilson's tenure. perhaps that is a testament to the man, but I have been so disappointed...

Winnik and galiardi add another two torrey mitchells to go along with the stupid acquisition of moore. Mcginn is far better than any of those 3 and with a much higher ceiling. The sharks now have 4 torrey mitchells and lost one of thier top prospects and the #2 scorer in the entire OHL. They are continuing to gut their system while adding 3rd and 4th liners. it makes no sense to me whatsoever.

i'm officially mad, and assuming the sharks do as I expect (1st round exit if they even make the PO's), then I would call for dougie's head. he has been SO lucky to have such great late round drafting, and has squandered it time and again backing perrenial losers and players with questionable heart as his leadership (sans boyle). This trade simply takes the team another step in the wrong direction. In a year or two, when jumbo and patty are 35 and boyle qualifies for social security, the sharks are going to be left with cooch as the only legit top 6 forward and burns/vlasic as the only legit top 4 dmen. Oh well, it was a great run and at least we got 2 final fours out of it...

I'm much more bummed about losing Sgarbossa than Jamie McGinn. The fact of the matter is, this trade changes absolutely NOTHING, more needed to be done. Doug Wilson also needed to take out the garbage i.e. Colin White and Torrey Mitchell and he didn't...

They say Doug was working hard to get some deals done, but just like his players it just wasnt enough to get it done.

:burt: i guess this season rests on Havlat's hammy.

Rules I feel your pain but Winnik, Moore and Galliardi are not "Torrey Mitchells" they are far from it. Torrey Mitchell is a second line AHL center, these guys are legit NHLers. As far as gutting our system, you are dead on with that.

Agreed 100% on being bummed about Sgarbossa an not about McGinn.

Unfortunately, like I wrote before, no GM wants Mitchell so I can understand why he's going anywhere. At least (I think?) he's off the books after this season so we don't have to watch him skate fast into the boards TOO much longer.

Colin White, I can't explain... he must have blackmail material on Dougie.

I'd check out the picks too. I really can't think of anyone. The closest would be Carle & Michalek (but I think getting them to fit into the youngsters/prospects/picks category is a stretch. I guess Carle was a youngster, but that wasn't a bad deal).

I know the cupboard appears bare to many, but that's not because he's given away all this great talent. Maybe we should stick to draft record criticism. That's always fun for armchair GMs with 20/20 hindsight.

Cmon, are we wrong to think that Sgarbossa was going to be a stud and he should have been held on to?

I think Galiardi has the highest ceiling. I actually will miss Sgarbosa the most. I'm not worried about McGinn all that much. I just don't think he's a very smart hockey player (either that or he's lazy in the offseason). He has tools, he just doesn't use them consistently.

I'm actually happy with this trade deadline, I honestly don't think there is any player out there that could help the Sharks win the cup this year.

BTW, Galiardi and Winnik are NOTHING like Mitchell. Mitchell is small and fast.....Winnik is large and can go to the front of the net and be a physical presence and Galiardi is large and has a high ceiling. They aren't even close to Mitchell as hockey players.

Bottom line, I hate losing the young kid(s) in Sgarbosa (and possibly Connelly), but McGinn hasn't done shit in his career besides the first 30 or so games this season. He's gone cold as ice. He's basically Winnik, but Winnik is better defensively.

They say Doug was working hard to get some deals done, but just like his players it just wasnt enough to get it done.

:burt: i guess this season rests on Havlat's hammy.

Im sure dougie wanted more than this, but for mcginn, sgarbossa, connolly and a 2nd rounder, I gotta feel he could have acquired a top 6 forward instead of 3 depth guys (2 of whom are rentals), who arent likely to make a big impact. Aside from Nieto (and maybe crane), sgarbossa was the only other forward looking really strong in the system.

havlat is not going to come back 100% and dominate. he wasnt all that great early in the year and it's hard to beleive hes gunna be awesome after being out 3 months. Functionally the entire goal output is now going to fall on pavs, cooch, and marleau exclusively. jumbo may pitch in a few, but the only other double digit forward just got traded for lesser players. The scoring got even more top heavy and the sharks are going to be so easy to shut down.

i suppose this was another handzus like desperation overpay to fix the PK. (btw, I hated that signing then, and I still think 2.5M for him was dumb. i would say that contract has really hurt). However, the problem is with the coaching not the players there, and adding more PKers wont fix that. Argh!

No, but you'd be wrong to assume it.

Wait, you were asking Cmon and not saying "Come on..." Sorry.

Haha.. yeah, sorry, just asking for Cmon's expert opinion there.

The more I think about this trade, the more it looks "meh". Seems like maybe too much "potential" to give up for two rentals... even completely leaving McGinn out of the equation...

Moore and Galiardi are both far better players than McGinn and Winnik replaces the physical aspect the team looses with McGinn while adding another PKer.

I'll be curious, as always, to see what he thinks.

This is a good day for me though. All this :lm: helps me figure out who to ignore. :lalala:
