He's been very consistent, so I expect him to stay that way. The only real variable is the new offensive scheme, and it's too early to judge so I'll ignore it.

Kind of cheating since we already got to see Stafford soar and Rodgers crumple, but I'd put Mahomes, Brady and Rodgers ahead of him and Murray/Stafford/Lamar/Allen as the guys Wilson is in the mix under that. Murray or Stafford could make a leap into the top tier. But Wilson won't. Brady and Rodgers could both fade and I expect Wilson still wouldn't be top three. Just too much competition.

You're right, Wilson can't jump into the top tier when he is already in the top tier but that really isn't even the best part of your comment.

Lamar in the same class as Wilson?

I think Wilson is a better QB than Staff but QB wins is a very flawed metric for comparison.

Dude! You asked me who I had ahead of Wilson. So I told you and gave a bit of rationale. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm just saying I think he won't. He's the most consistent QB in the league.

(And that made me laugh. So good.)

He's got a ways to go to be in the same class as Wilson careerwise.

But so far he's got a higher career passer rating, win ratio, and rushing stats. Lower interception ratio. And gets sacked a lot less.

And in Wilson's best year, Jackson was the one who beat him out as first-team All Pro.

(Side note: Wilson gets sacked a LOT. He's #19 all time right now, and will probably be #1 before the next presidential election.)

What’s SF’s excuse for going 7-27 without Jimmy G under Shanny? You can use the “bad team” excuse all you want but it does apply just as much to San Francisco.
they were missing a ton of their defense too.
I thought the Niners were gonna be a much improved team this year. but not because of their QB.

Well I see once again. if Jimmy G gets a win today he can thank his defense! While his fans say yeah but look at the win/loss record.

Sadly we're not going to get a fair comparison for the next month. But through five games I think we can all agree that there are a lot of great QB seasons happening so far: Allen, Brady, Herbert, Jackson, Mahomes, Murray, Stafford... and Wilson before he smacked his finger.

They're alphabetical, so no complaining. Okay, Green Bay fans can complain.

I'm still good with my list although I'd move Murray, Burrow, and Herbert up about 3 spots and Mahomes and Lawrence down a couple of spots.

Interesting how different it is by QBR.
It is. Look at hebert. I do think one metric is better than the other, but both are flawed.

When I see qbs like jimmy g, late age ben, a few others…that can have very respectable ratings while not completing passes beyond the LOS i cant get behind it totally. Just one of imho to evaluate a qb imho.

Yeah. QBR seems to be better, and tries to account for the actual value of a play towards winning the game, and how much of the credit on a play goes to the QB, and includes sacks and rushing, but the formula isn't available to analyze.

ANY/A seems to be a decent metric, since at least it accounts for sacks, which passer rating doesn't.

Stats on this type of thing are so difficult because of how the NFL is played today. Mahomes has 163 first downs which is far and away the most but his yards per catch is near the bottom. Stats would paint the narrative that Mahomes is a dink and dunker but he is quite the opposite and defenses are forcing him to play differently. Dink and dunker gets him 15th in QB Rating, 10th in QBR, and 1st in EPA. So Mahomes is adding the most value a dink and dunker could add, but teams are still limiting him.
