I LOVE horror movies....Absolutely LOVE them. I grew up watching them with my dad from the 2nd grade (used to piss my mom off so much).

I watch them now with my kids. (pisses my wife off)

I might try to throw in some reviews here and there...but I will say I've noticed my tolerance for the given "the victims/attacked are going to do something stupid" has dwindled over the years...lol.

My older and I watched "All Hallow's Eve" a couple weeks ago. Enjoyed it very much. Great flick. Art the Clown is a scary mofo. So I looked it up and see he has a movie called "Terrifier." So of course we gotta watch us some Art...who did his Art do and did not disappoint. But, at some point in Terrifier I broke in the "Oh come on...NOBODY would do that" annoyance. LOL

Also watched Creep recently...and the ending of that movie is the mother of all "Oh come ons." I don't care if fantasy football show guy explains it away after...

I mean...Don't get me wrong...I want me some quality kills...and to get there, peeps gotta be dumb to some degree. But, please directors/writers, at least make an attempt or resign yourself to the Sci Fi network.

Bonus moment: Watched Creepshow 2 and another mother of all "oh come on moments" with the whole "I BEAT YOOUUU" swimming scene....but that was truly enjoyable...and the boys and I all cheered when it happened...so it can go both ways I guess.
The Raft might be my favorite of the Creepshow stories, right next to the hilarious "Thanks for the ride lady!", which is weird because they are both from Creepshow 2, and the original Creepshow is the better movie.

Creepshow 3 sucked though.

I wasn't sure which Pinhead line fits this better:
*You solved the box, we came. Now you must come with us. Taste our pleasures!
......or......
*Ah, the suffering. The sweet, sweet suffering.

Tough, but if I had to choose one, it would be TCM. I am just not as attached to them as much as I am the others even though I think most of the Friday The 13ths and Nightmare on Elm Streets are actually bad movies.

Basically the Mount Rushmore of horror.

I'd probably give the boot to TCM, as well. The original is great, but I feel the first Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street were better paced films, and hockey mask Jason is just the more iconic slasher.

Anybody see The Little Things (2021) yet? Crime drama/thriller with Denzel Washington & Jared Leto? Think it just dropped this week on HBO max.

I think I’m going to try to stream it tonight. Big fan of whatever Denzel touches. And Leto has been stellar in most everything. Probably not going to be a unique movie but at least the performances will make it worthwhile!

Yes, I watched it like 2 weeks ago. I posted a small review in the Last Movie You Watched thread and I would post it here, but I will wait till you have seen it lol.

Question... some made an argument the other day (not on here) that the first Terminator is a horror film. They made a fair point, what do you guys say?

I feel it has some horrific moments but I don't know if I would call it horror. If so, you might as well call it a romance also! Its one of those multi-genre films but it is foremost sci-fi, then you go from there.

What were the most important points of their theory?

They called it comparable to a slasher film with sci-fi. An unstoppable killing machine that is killing numerous people trying to get to its target. They argued that if the Terminator were using knives instead of guns, it wouldn't even be a conversation with people. I could see that.

Some movies I want to check out, but don't seem to be streaming anywhere or are pretty new/just released. Let me know if you guys have seen them.

Mandy - heard it was good.
Sator - Looks pretty good from the trailer. Honestly kind of excited about it, it's up my alley.
Willys Wonderland - this actually just got released I think. Will probably be bad, but looks like it'll at least be fun.
Come Play - Trailer grabbed my attention.
Random Acts of Violence - doesn't look great, but somewhat interesting.
Psycho Goreman - has good reviews, looks to be a kid-friendly horror/comedy, but it doesn't appear to be rated by the mpaa yet.
Sacrifice - trailer seemed interesting, getting some good reviews.
The Cleansing Hour - seems cheesy, but its got good reviews, seems like my type of horror if it is good too.
The Dark and the Wicked - another that seems up my alley and getting good reviews.

Those are some of the newer stuff that I want to check out. What say you?

I had another movie I wanted to ask if you guys thought it was horror, but I forgot what it was. I tried googling movies that were 'almost horror'(lol) to try to find it, but no luck (so far). I did find The Terminator listed on one of the lists though, this is what ScreenRant had to say...

"Consider the following plotline, an indestructible monster with unnatural strength and abilities stalks a young woman and her companion with murderous intent. Isn't it strange how much James Cameron's The Terminator sounds like a Jason movie? While the cyborg killer from the future might lack traditional slasher methods, his body count is unmistakable. Plus, like all movie maniacs, he came back for sequel after sequel."

Yes it is, but its multi-genre. It's a sci-fi action movie with horror overtones... The slasher, the gore, the dread, etc. But it's focus is on telling a compelling sci-fi story framed in action. James Cameron idolized John Carpenter, and admitted that his slasher style imagery was the launchpad for the Terminator film.

I always tell people its a sci-fi action film with the heart of a horror film.

I've only seen The Cleansing Hour. Gimmicky but well made. Didn't care for the climactic finish. Still well worth the watch.

Been trying to convince the wife on Random Acts of Violence. It's been sitting in our queue for almost a year now lol. Heard good things about The Dark and the Wicked, but haven't looked into that one yet.
