Ok so I am putting together a sheet to find out who gets the best and worst travel under the new alignment. In my model I will assume that every time a team goes on the road they play and fly back home after every game. I know this will not happen and the NHL does schedule road trips where you play more than one team on a trip saving miles. So basically this is a worst case. Anyone want to take any guesses as to how this will come out. I will post later today as to the results with milage worst case. How about best travel?

I'm gonna guess Vancouver travels the most.

actually last year Los Angeles traveled the most. Vancouver if I remember was 3rd worst. i would imagine now with the alignment this wont be the case.

With this new format though. Vancouver looks like it is the most isolated team.

yeah it does. I guess it depends on the schedule. if they play LA 6 times and Anaheim and San Jose they wont even be leaving their time zone for 18 games - home and away (almost a 1/4 of teh season)

I'll bet the Florida teams will in the top 5 of longest travel.

As far as shortest, I'll say Pittsburgh. They are in the most closely clustered conference, and they are farther west for those west coast trips.

Chartered planes with food and all sorts of accomodations....

At most a three hour time change....

Travel issues are so overrated

was it a millionaire who said "imagine no possessions"?
