You asked what do they contribute. Just showing ya. Obviously Football both schools don’t have conference titles. But to say to get rid of them from a fan of an athletic program that is equal or beneath them is hilarious.
I replied to @ralphiewvu post about grabbing the two Zona schools and calling it good.

btw only USC has more PAC football titles than Washington. Oregon would be Oregon St. 2.0 if it wasn't for uncle Phil and his Chinese slave labor.

I don't think fans of teams outside the PAC realize just how much USC & Washington fans would like to see Oregon fans all get coronavirus to the max degree.

I'll tell ya one thing .. when USC and/or Washington was kicking ass we gave each other shit but we still had respect for each other. Oregon is a complete different story. A cheesy ass no class millennial bandwagon fan base that probably couldn't pick their biological daddy's out of a lineup if their lives depended on it. You fvcks are gonna get yours.

Washington hasn't "kicked ass" over a consistent period in a long time. They had 2 good seasons when Oregon was down, but now they are back to being Oregon's punching bag.

I'm starting to feel like going west for expansion really doesn't help Texas. They might as well grab ou and go to the SEC west. Better geographical rivalries (ou, aggy, pig, LSU) They throw in Mizzu and two other schools..TN? KY? Aub? Bama? and that's the new West.

Read another post elsewhere where they did the deep dive on tier 3 content the Pac is having trouble selling. ESPN passed on it. Having a merger won't help that. Only way it makes sense is if Big 12 grabs just 4 schools ASU,UA, SC and UCLA. It's an easier sell for SC to keep it's Trojan network or making a combined network with UCLA... Same with the AZ schools. With the additions of those schools the tier 1/2 deal should push the big 12 payout from 38 mil to around 48, maybe 50. Then the tier 3 money can be added on top of that. So financially it makes better sense.

As a CFB fan, it would be cool for me being a Texas fan but I would hate seeing the Pac 12 get tore up like that. Think Texas and ou just need to head to the SEC, let the current Big 12 add Houston and SMU. Texas, ou and the SEC can quit doing the long dances around each other and just get to it in 2024.

man these financials are bad for the schools out West:

In FY 2020, MSU will receive $55M from the Big 10; CU, $33M from the Pac-12. Over the next five years, each B1G school will collect at least $139M more than Pac-12 schools. And after the next round of media negotiations, the difference in distributions will grow larger to the point at which B1G (and SEC) schools will likely be bringing in double that of the money distributed to the Pac-12 schools annually.

Cal in FY 2019 posted a deficit of $24M and is projected in FY 2020 to post a deficit of $17M.

Little brother, UCLA, is expected to post the same negative number in FY 2020 and lost $18.9M in FY 2019. The 2019 shortfall was covered by an interest-bearing loan from the University, not boosters. Meaning, a loan provided by California’s tax-paying citizens.

Oregon State and Washington State athletic departments both have tens of millions of dollars in accumulated debt.

So... In other words, it sux to be a state (tax payer) sponsored university (for sports) in Pac12, especially in Cali? :noidea::rolleyes2:

UW would be Oregon light had Don James not allowed steroids into his locker room and USC had the worst decade in their schools history.

And if the dog hadn't stopped to piss on the hydrant he would have caught the rabbit. Look up UW's record before they hired Don James and learn something.

That and it seems it would be much better if some of those schools dropped sports all together.. Now they won't and shouldn't..but damn. Guess the state of Texas is more valuable than California right now.. and Scott has to be the worst commissioner and that's saying something with the puppet Bowlsby over looking the big 12

Hell, they might be better off. They could schedule who they want which would be an advantage because USC has always scheduled well OOC.

They could put together better schedules, negotiate their own tv deal ala ND. That would definitely be something to sell to recruits.
You would have to get a package worth 50 million to be fiscally competitive with members of the P5 schools and that would be a tough sell for USC by itself.

Possibly and as I said earlier, they may have to look at more of a regional deal, at least initially.

But assuming they scheduled on an indy schedule the way they normally do their OOC, they'd have several games a year that networks would want to broadcast nationally.

As I've said, I don't see them leaving the PAC. I think them finally starting to throw their weight around a little will encourage some of the other schools to do the same and the conference will start making the necessary improvements.

I hope USC never leaves the PAC. I am tired of all this conference movement, lets just put everything back to the way it was before Texas ruined everything.
