No More "Bullpen Failure" - maybe
Probably the best way to assure that JD goes when ownership goes, is for the new ownership group to include Nolan Ryan and Chuck Greenburg. Lol
I don't care for Mark Cuban the person, but I wouldn't mind if he took another shot at buying the club. Maybe he could team up with Greenburg and another purchaser.
I think he is good for business. He has a lot to offer.no more greenburg please.
That guy was a nut job.
I think JD got spoiled in finding fairly cheap difference makers in Hamilton, Cruz, Napoli, and Colby. That together with the Teixeira trade was such a huge part of his earlier success. Rebuilding and going after key FA at the right time is a process that he just isn't very good at. There are no more Tex, or Hanilton trades to be had. It is time for a new front office. This is the first time in a very, very long time that I can honestly say there isn’t one single person in the ENTIRE Rangers organization who is untouchable/irreplaceable or who I would be really upset if he left. Even in the lean years of the 70’s and 80’s we had All-Stars and fan favorites like Mike Hargrove, Fergie Jenkins, Buddy Bell, Ruben Sierra, Julio Franco, and Rafael Palmeiro. The 90’s had Juan Gonzalez, Rafael Palmeiro, Pudge Rodriguez, Nolan Ryan, and Johnny Oates. And the 00’s and 10’s had Young, Kinsler, Cruz, Vlad, Napoli, Hamilton, and Beltre, just to name a few. All of those guys were either valuable All-Stars, future Hall of Famers, or perennial fan favorites.
Now look at the organization. Ownership? Awful. I think the entire fanbase wants them gone ASAP. Front office? Nobody is shedding any tears once JD finally leaves town. He’s been ok... some great moves mixed in with some really bad ones. He’s not irreplaceable, though. Coaching staff? I like Woody enough and think he’s actually a pretty decent manager. But if he left, the team wouldn’t really suffer. Current players? Haha, good one. We have vets on bloated contracts (Choo, Andrus, Odor) who we would all gladly offer up in any trade. And our “best” players Joey Gallo and Mike Minor are entirely replaceable. And prospects? Sure, we have some nice pieces like Jung, Huff, and Crouse working their way up through the minors. But there isn’t one among them who is untouchable... not like a future Mike Trout or Ronald Acuna.
For the first time that I can ever remember with this team, I can honestly say that I wouldn’t mind the entire organization being blown up and starting over from scratch. There are some guys I like ok, but not enough to where I wouldn’t trade them for their counterpart from another team in a heartbeat.
I don’t mind going through a rebuild and being patient. But at some point you have to start adding cornerstone pieces. You can’t just sit back and say that ALL of those are going to come from your minor league system. We had a chance to add one of those in Rendon and our cheapskate owners said “no thanks”. We need someone to build around. You don’t build a foundation around Willie Calhoun and Joey Gallo. Those are decent supporting cast members. And you don’t put all of your eggs in the Josh Jung basket. He and all of our other prospects could very easily go the way of Mike Olt and Jurickson Profar.
What prospects did we trade that would be on our roster? And made a difference in our present predicament?Or maybe he's finally learned patience and reason, he has lacked both majorly in the past and gutted the farm system for nothing (which put the team in it's current predicament)![]()
Jorge Alfaro for oneWhat prospects did we trade that would be on our roster? And made a difference in our present predicament?
4 MLB years with 33 homers and 108 rbi's doesn't get me excitedJorge Alfaro for one

That is 22 more HR and 31 more RBI than the best offensive catcher we have ever had had in the same number of AB to start his career. Your excitement meter must be faulty.4 MLB years with 33 homers and 108 rbi's doesn't get me excited
Carl Edwards.Possibly Jerad Eickhoff and Kyle Hendricks...

Irreplaceability was not a factor in this conversation previously though.yeah but not irreplaceable.
Chirinos put up 3.8 WAR vs Alfaro’s 1.0
Alfaro also had more AB last year.
That was very easily replaceable.
JD just made a bad move brining in Mathis and buying out Chirinos last offseason.
I don't see that being a for sure thing based on what he has done.Jorge Alfaro for one
He could be a possibility as he was hot for a couple of years. It seems the prospects that were thought highly of and made a difference are/were kept on the team in Gallo, Maz and to everyone's chagrin Odor. The others for the most part faded but that is just how it works much of the time with prospects. Those years that Juan Gone, Pudge, Greer and guys like that who came up there was an excitement about those guys once they arrived and they panned out. That was a special time.Carl Edwards.
Again my hope is once we are in the new stadium the current ownership takes the money and runs. I have no issues as well with Woody at this point in time.New ballpark in about 60 days.
I like our manager.
could we get a new ownership group, front office, roster, and tv announcers in that time frame please?
A "sure thing" wasn't asked about though.I don't see that being a for sure thing based on what he has done.
