here's a thought: Yankees, after signing Cole, are looking to clear salary. what if we convinced Choo to accept a trade to them for J.A. Happ and Zack Britton plus we throw in $7M cash?

I would think it would have to be closer to $10 mil.

My reason for underwhelming trade when it was made.

While Maz hadn't broke out in a big way like many had hoped by now, but he had improved his OPS and slugging % every year, and his OBP and batting average 3 out of 4 years

I think he was on the verge of a big breakout

I'm afraid we let a good one get away.

I know Choo is making too much money and is a below avg fielder. But we'll greatly miss his bat and OBP when he's gone.

Dude, this is EXTREMELY lazy and flat-out untrue. The people living in Southlake are wealthy, yes. But the overwhelming majority of them are the nicest people in the world. You used to live “near” there? Good for you. I lived there. I know plenty of people who still live there. Just because they’re rich doesn’t mean they have egos. It’s just like the kids from Highland Park who unfairly get that rap because they come from money. I went to school with a lot of them at SMU, and they were some of the nicest kids at the school.

Peoples opinions are shaped by their experiences.

I’m glad that you’ve had a positive experience in your dealings with southlake folks, but I have not.

in high school and the first 2 years of college, I worked at a retail store for some extra money and to stay busy. The customers were overwhelmingly from southlake. They would typically talk down to you and go out of their way to mention that the stuff they’re buying is going into their lake house or their second home, or their guest room etc.

It was usually the wealthy customers who would leave things In the middle of the aisle and not care to put it back where they belongs.

I’m sure you’re wondering how do I know who did it and who these people are? Well.... we were required to ask people’s zip code before the transaction.

I do just fine. I’m a CPA in San Antonio now, but like I said my own personal experiences with the dragon folks were not positive.

A fair response.....Although I no longer even live in the state, when there I knew a few folks from Southlake and they were good ones. But again, I agree with you on the above bolded.

Ideally we get/develop a CFer for next year and shift Santana to LF and Calhoun to DH

Have you seen enough of Calhoun to have him as a bat producer for the foreseeable future?

Again, you’re making generalizations about a whole city based on a few interactions with customers you didn’t even know at a store. I actually KNOW people who live there. I was one of those people. I have family who are still those people. I work in that city. I interact with Southlake people on a daily basis. Not a single person that I’ve come across or know had any ego of any kind. I have never ONCE heard anyone in Southlake mention how much money they have. I know the city and its people a million times better than you ever will.

If you admit that your opinions are shaped by some experiences you had, maybe you should realize that your interactions were quite limited and that you probably don’t know enough people to be making broad judgments about the entire city.

Sorry, but you are dead wrong on this one. Laughably so.

I talked to a guy I know who works in the rangers organization.

he seems very confident that the rangers will sign rendon over the next few days.

he also told me about the Jordan lyles signing several hours before it was announced.

Honestly the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle... I've heard people talk mad shit about people from Southlake, but I don't have any personal knowledge hence I stay out of it

There are good and bad people in every city. Sure there are some jerks who live there. But I personally know dozens of people who live there, and they are the nicest people in the world. But it’s ridiculous for him to generalize the whole city as ego-driven jerks and present it as fact because of a handful of interactions he had with a very limited number of people years ago. I take such exception to it because I know for a fact there are a lot of very good people he’s painting in a very unfair light.

Same thing about Highland Park but I was in the service with a guy from there and we became close friends and remain so today. People are people and generally treat you the way you react and treat them. In the military you meet people from every where and they are pretty much the same depending how you treat them.

OK.....Let's assume this happens and we're all delighted beyond delighted.

Everyone: Give a A through F grade for this off season, assuming Rendon is in, and we bring back Chirinos.
