Did that during the last 2 off-seasons and it was TJ pickups and below average positional players
Lately: It has been Minor Lynn Allard Burke Santana Calhoun. Sounds like a plan in motion and I think that is a little more than TJ pickups and below average positional players.

re ARod. He was a wonderful player but ultimately they went bankrupt and his contract was a factor. Funny thinking adding a star will increase profitability despite being strapped financially.

One thought for BB and life. Don't take on a heavy contrast or expense you can not afford to eat if it goes south. Choo did his part too minus his defense but others did not and his contract appears to be an albatross.

Still think with our big upgrade with the ballpark our position in the marketplace should be bigger. The whole world is moving to Texas

freaking this.

we’re run like TB or Oakland without the success. The third market mindset and spending habits need to go. We should probably be in the top 10 in payroll in all of MLB.

1) Yankees

2) dodgers

3) cubs

4) angels

those are teams with higher payrolls off the top of my head. I know payroll isn’t everything, but we will probably need a big free agent or 2 to shave some time off this rebuild.

im envious of the Yankees right now. They have so many guys who can play 2nd base. That Torres kid is 10x better than odor will ever be.

we have holes in the rotation, 2nd base, 3rd base, 1st base, catcher, and a log jam in the outfield.

get to effin work this winter JD.

he has a point actually. In regard to talent acquisition, If we’re going to strike out at the trade deadline every year, our offseason’s need to get a lot better NOW.

We have two who can play 2b.( Solak/Santana)
3b needs resolved
1st may get resolved if Guzman comes through in winter ball
Catcher- have been impressed so far and he hits ok for a catcher.
We need a good #3 with Allard #4 nd hopefully Burke can hold down #5.
Pen needs a little more help like Classe.
Biggest concern: 1st 3b

The FO has a plan!! May not be a good one. You may not like it but they have a plan. Why don't you settle down and see what happens after the season is over and trades begin. Nothing can be done till then except private discussions behind closed doors. There is a plan in motion.

Besides being so sad and unfortunate this could get very messy. I would think someone else other than Kay supplied drugs. Others may be involved including users. Wonder if Josh knew anything over there if ongoing

Yeah if the team is going to spend 8 figures AAV then spend it on quality not quantity. Instead of signing 3 or 4 pitchers recovering from TJ sign 1 good starter. We've got Minor, Lynn and Allard so add a #1 starter like Cole and either go with a #5 of one of Burke, Palumbo or another of our young guys or sign a guy like Michael Wacha to a 1+1 contract. Then sign a 3rd baseman, preferably Rendon.
There how did I do

Not to take sides, but I understand where he’s coming from. Being a ranger fan sucks right now.

the last few trade deadlines and offseasons have been massive duds for ranger fans. We have got to make some moves this offseason that instill hope in the team now and for the future.

fans should be sick and tired of this low budget / low risk cost effective approach. Let’s make a splash. The team probably can’t compete in 2020, but let’s improve the team anyway.

we just got a new ball park and the heat is no longer an excuse for not getting good free agents. Let’s prove that by going out and getting one. I don’t expect a Gerrit Cole or Anthony random this offseason, but a josh Donaldson or mike moustakas should be attainable and some pretty good second / third tier pitchers should be attainable as well.

The problem with the AROD signing wasn't the years or money, it was that the Rangers stopped with it. The rest of the team wasn't that good and Hicks did nothing to build on his signing
And Hicks promised ARod and the fans that that would not happen. He lied.

Yep he did. AROD would not have signed with Texas if he had known and once he realized that Hicks had lied he was constantly asking for a trade

This low budget will remain as long as dumb stupid moronic contracts are issued. Example: Arod cost plenty and we did not get much in time when we traded him. However, we are just now ending that contract. Odor not nearly as great but certainly far more than his worth and the ponies. How dumb was that? Fielder needs no explanation. Big money for damaged goods not being checked out. Then there is Choo. Still paying for a long contract who can not start. Now how much would you fork over if you had all that hanging over your head. Don't answer you may expose your self. Looks as if all that is coming to a place where the owners will be able to increase the budget but they might want to look closely at the FO.

Even if we sign a #1 like Cole and a stud 3b like Rendon I don't see us competing in 2020 but I do see us getting on the right side of .500 and making strides toward competing in 2021 and beyond.

But my gut says that we are very unlikely to actively pursue any of the stud pitchers or positional players that are going to be available this off-season. I just don't think the ownership has the whattofore to do it

Article in Athletic about Solak and 3B. My bet is unless his arm is too weak they put him there and pursue Starting pitching. If Roogie fails then he goes to 2B. They have too many 3B MILB options ahead to make a serious run at Rendon

Putting Solak at 3B is a mistake in the short time the Rangers put him there he was uncomfortable and out of place. Maybe if we send him down to AAA and let him play every game there at 3rd he might be ready by the All-Star break but tossing out there at the MLB level every day would be a mistake.
Odor needs to go and Solak at 2B is the answer

Odor will fail most likely so put Solak at 2b and sign a FA 3b and pursue a torp if possible.

Hope you are right. In the case of Odor we might have to eat a large chunk of his contract and get minimal back in return. Hell the same could be said about Choo too. It all depends on how much cash the Rangers add to sweeten the deals
