The IF corners definitely need to be good hitters combined with the core group mentioned should be a good start in 2020. Still need a pitcher or two.
At this point, I am more concerned about getting ready for 2021 or 2022.
I think Trevino and Fed Ex are adequate catchers going into 2020. Solak is adequate at 2b but likely won't happen that way.
Emphasis. Going into. Things could change after a month. Yes could use a very solid starter

That is why I am in favor of going after Rendon. That is also why I want to see Solak at 2B, so we can get a full evaluation of him.
Okay how about pitching
If they sign one significant free agent each year I am fine with that. For now I will take Rendon. Also, see my post from earlier today about going after hitting over pitching.
Rendon is a great choice. Not in favor of a long 7 year contract but would feel comfortable at 5 yr. We have been hurt over and over again with lengthy contracts and extensions. Offer 5 yr and extend him for 2 more if all is well after 5.
Why not offer him 7 years with year 5 a player option year and years 6 and 7 team option years
Maybe he wants to play somewhere else.
And maybe he thinks he can get 7 years and a lot more than 210M by bringing more teams into the bidding
Could be. Wonder if a shorter contract with higher pay per year is thought.
If we sign him, i am of the opinion that we are going to really want him to be here in years 6 and 7 of that contract. In year 6, I expect we as a fan base will be asking for an extension.
Woodard thinks DDJ is of championship quality. Not sure why he thinks that. DDJ is a nice man with a sub-par arm strength. Hope Woody is playing politics.
