even though no player at that time at the level of TT would take a 1-year deal as a RFA (at least that I can think of) TT was gonna be the first to try it?

Obviously not, he didn’t, because most take the most they can when they can.

That being said, you can’t use inflated numbers from the next summers similar type player and compare it to his contract.

The determining factors were completely different.

Not even sure a player like this has never been bought out. I just can't think of anyone.

Will say unlike Love whose skills wont be lost much as he ages not sure the same can be said of TT.
TT is on an expiring contract and will, at the VERY LEAST be a trade piece at the deadline. There is zero chance he is bought out---- ESPECIALLY if Gilbert thought there was any chance in hell he would go to LAL.

This is a very strange and stupid conversation that has no basis in fact with zero chance of ever coming true.

I cannot use numbers from today to determine TT's value today, which was what we were talking about?

Said he was worth $8 mil less TODAY so would think I should use TODAY's players/salaries to reply.

Wonder if they are in playoff contention if NO might want him. They probably have players we'd take and have a gazillion extra picks to offer.

Use whatever you want.
Its apples to oranges though depending on when they signed.

Not only that, we’re all agreeing he’s overpaid and he signed before the inflation which makes him even more overpaid by my math.

It was brought up because CBS listed it as a hypothetical.
Better to keep discussing how overpaid TT is?

As far as you and your %’s, didn’t you lose a testicle with your definite predictions?

Time travel makes more sense than payroll adjustment?

Yes, imagining what arguably the best player ever could've done in different surroundings makes more sense to me than "would overrated Cavs player X be worth $18M to the Lakers if they had an extra $20M available".

Dwight hasn't been bought out yet either, so he's technically not available. For the league minimum, he's a low risk low ceiling option.

Much funnier is the Cavs being the only NBA team to report a loss last year. But sure, TT and Love are worth the money...

itll be interesting to see.

This year is definitely about (i) developing the young guys, (ii) trying to acquire more picks/assets/young players, and (iii) making sure they keep their lotto pick.

Right about when the Cavs get the All Star game, again, they should have a pretty nice, exciting young team with a lot of flexibility. Shoudl be interesting.

I think that between Clarkson, Knight, TT, Delly, Henson---- all expiring contracts, the Cavs will pull off a move or two. Who knows who it will be.

A Clarkson/TT package could really be nice for a prospective contender- that is for sure.

Ultimately, it's like asking if you would spend $18 on a boring movie if you were fronted $20. Exactly what value do you get out of that answer?

you dont think its funny that Dwight might come back to the Lakers? I think thats fucking hilarious.......that would be some amazing comedy. I bet the league is PRAYING that it happens--- and because of Pelinka's incompetence rounding out the roster, we just might get it!!!!!

I dont think we are lucky enough to get Carmelo AND Dwight though. That would just be too much.

Why would a smart GM give up young players on a young team for an aging role player to maybe make the playoffs a year ahead of schedule, knowing that still doesn't make your team a title contender?

BTW, I do love that so many think the same Lakers kids that everyone was hating on are suddenly the core of a playoff team with the addition of even rawer rookies around them and a vet PG playing SG. It exposes the levels of agenda around here lol.

Said, “one of the most”, and often he was.
League leader in blocks , rebounds.
Only man in the world to ever go from a min to a max in one season.

Does it frost your ass that he’ll earn more this season then you would in 400 years if you lived that long?

Which is crazy. Don’t know anybody would criticize someone for that.

In high school everybody makes fun of the last virgin in their friend group.

But this is different. He was a virgin by choice.

One of my best friends in college was the same way. He was actually very successful with women. Always had a girlfriend, but waited till he was married AC Green style.
I think it's the era in some ways considering how gays were treated. Even now we have president who manipulates people's prejudices for political power.

yours requires time travel to happen. Mine a change in cap rules or a payroll.

whatever you say sport.
