I was talking when he was here the first time and no one knew who he was.....working under Bill, Ozzie, Pioli, etc.

Ah ok

You're slightly older than me I can't really speak well to what the overall climate with that regime was

They have Drew Stanton. It is a good idea to have 3 QB's on the roster though
I would think if they liked Stanton enough to play him they would not have traded a 3rd and paid TT $16 mil (same round pick they gave up for Collins, BTW)

If ever one was to believe this team was cursed these guys might prove it. Belichick, Ozzie, Dimitroff, Pioli, Savage, Saban, Frerenz, etc made so many huge gaffes in FA and the draft while here. Then they left and could do no wrong.

Yes I am aware the Browns actually employed all of those guys and it's sickening to think too long on it

He has always been viewed as a backup move, they didn't bring him in to start. He's 35 lol. He is a veteran, that's what you want for a backup and he can help Baker.

Random comment but I could see Strong being this year's Perriman. It would've been nice for Perriman to be this year's Perriman though

Yeah it hasn't worked out for him yet but he has potential. You gotta love the depth they have at WR, which is funny bc it's something they have always needed just like a QB.

agree....but I get it. With OBJ he's at best a 3rd option, and maybe 4-5th. Gotta go where he can showcase himself better for a longterm deal.

Even worse was how bad they were when they were here.

Tommy Vardell, Toast Langham, passed on Warren Sapp then traded down and took Craig Powell (Coleman is a HOFer in comparison), Andre Rison, cut Kosar to play Philcox....sheesh.

That's my point.....they don't like him enough to play him. Which means as of now Gilbert is the guy they'd play. Isn't this a season you'd want someone better if Baker went down for a few games?

Still early, I guess.

I mean just watching all these pre-draft, live draft or post draft shows where guys are rated their QB's and said what they think of the draft. Most or all said Baker was a bad pick at #1 and most had him listed as their 3rd or 4th best QB. Most GM's wouldn't have taken him #1 and Dorsey did. I mean that wasn't an EASY pick at #1. Baker has only played only year but I mean cmon that was an AMAZING pick. We can't be certain but I guarantee Sashi wouldn't have picked Baker. Dorsey has balls.

How do you know what most GMs would have done? They don't tell anyone any true info before or after the draft. Not saying it wasn't a great pick or that every GM would have taken him.

You keep saying you guarantee Sashi would not have taken him. Other than not liking Sashi why would you think this?

He's an analytic's wet dream for a QB in gauging success from college to NFL. Top traits.....
1) Wins in college AND a lot of starts
2) Supreme accuracy/high completion %
3) Exceptional TD/INT ratio

AND he has a cannon for an arm.

A lot of big boards didn't have Baker in the TOP 15. Sources on NFL.com said that the GM's, scouts and coaches had the QB's ranked like this:
1. Sam Darnold
2. Josh Allen
3. Josh Rosen
4. Baker Mayfield

Going by Sashi's formula he would have traded down from #1 bc there were so many QB's left OTB...maybe he waits till #4 to take a QB like most experts believed the Browns would do to take Barkley #1. Literally nobody had Baker as their #1 QB, at least I am having troubling finding them.

Dorsey found what looks like the best QB and that is what the Browns have been missing forever. But yet Sashi deserves most of the credit. Laughable.

I never said I didn't like Sashi you are just boasting up his moves like no GM in the last 10 years haven't made the same moves. It's incorrect. Dorsey has a proven track record and it's something that you are not comprehending and the Baker pick pretty much says it all. 95% of experts didn't have Baker as their #1 QB or even in their top 10-15. Crazy how great this pick was and seems to be for the future of this organization.

Multiple scouts questioned the wisdom of drafting a smaller quarterback with 9 and 1/4-inch hands (smallest of the top four QBs) if you play in a northern climate, where weather is more likely to be a factor on game day. And Mayfield isn't the athlete Wilson was coming out. "[Mayfield] scares me a little bit, to be honest with you," an offensive coordinator said. "I would not feel comfortable drafting him in the first half of Round 1. I don't even know if I'd feel comfortable with him in Round 2." Mayfield's fans point out he's accurate and has good arm talent for his size. "I think he's got eyes in the back of his head," an NFC executive said. "He's highly instinctive. He's a playmaker."

Bolded is kinda shocking, didn't know some were this skeptical of him.

I get you will do anything you can to bash Sashi and want to slurp Dorsey's privates but wow. Rational thinking be damned for you.

Here's a flash......GMs/coaches/FOs don't tell anyone their actual thinking before OR after a draft. sources also said a friend of Dorsey was certain he was taking Josh Allen. Hours before the 2017 draft, there were insiders who said they were 100% certain the Browns were taking Trubisky #1.

Baker is accurate, has a strong arm, is a leader, started a ton of games and won in college. These are the traits teams look for in college QBs. Good for Dorsey he took him, but the idea you think only 5% of guys who matter (actual FO people) would have taken him is laughable...based on, well, nothing.

I get you don't really care about facts, but Sashi never had the chance to make a #1 pick that he traded. Only time he had it he kept it. But his "formula" is trade it? Formula being X-4 (you hate him) -3x?

who said Sashi deserves "most of the credit"? I take it you wont read these things I write until you understand as I've asked you to do You just choose to make it up as you go along.

Sashi and Paul D deserve the credit for the plan of a complete tear down and rebuild. Don't do that and, yes, there are no early picks and extra picks for Dorsey to make. But Dorsey did an exceptional job with the picks he was given.

Pretty sure you have used PFF to support a point, as have @Across The Field Also assuming you are aware it uses analytics as part of their rankings.

They also had Baker as the clear #1 QB coming out....but you think no way sashi takes him.

Yeah....and the guys who watch every player on every play had a different view.

If you notice the top graded guys on the list besides Mayfield are Goff and Kessler. One guy many say they wanted and another guy they did take.

But you are sure Sashi wouldn't have taken him because, well, it would ruin your narrative?
