Another quiet night in the Great Northeast. The snoring sounds at Gillette Stadium are deafening. It's a signal that all loyal Patriots fans should call it a night.

Beware...the sun will come up in the east tomorrow and eventually spread it's light on all to see. Who know's what evil lurks in the hearts of those on Coaches Row??

Only Bill knows and he's not sharing any of it. Prepare yourself for another two or three days of rumors and frustration.

Only 42 days until the draft. Only 130 days until training camp opens. The suffering goes on and on..............

Patriots have basically kept guys that they know will do what is required:

Matthew Slater
John Simon
Jason McCourty
Johnathan Jones
Philip Dorsett
Brandon Bolden

While none of these guys is a huge headline, they're teamguys who aren't breaking the bank. They all have rings and know what's required to get one.

Some other news........

It's not 100% confirmed but it appears that Rob Gronkowski will be back for 2019. His agent would not deny it or confirm it which pretty much says that he will be back for one more go around. If the Patriots get off to a fast start, expect to see him sit out games to prevent injuries. The latest is that he a bad quad at the end of 2018 and if it had been anyone else but him, they would have ben able to play against the Chargers, Chiefs or Rams.
According to NFL.com, Gronk is 100% healed. One other thing to note......Gronk has not been out in the night club circuit for the first time in over five years. Word is that Alex Guerrero has had him on a strict diet and exercise routine. ........................Don't tell Bill.

Well done BK.

Good point, but if he can stay reasonably healthy, at least as healthy last year, he'll be a force in the playoffs.

Can you even imagine what the Hoop would be like if the Patriots went to their 5 SB in 6 years and won Ring 7??

The site would shut down, and an investigation would begin.

Patriots formally announce the trade acquisition of DE Michael Bennett. In acquiring Bennett and a 2020 seventh-round pick, the Patriots send their 2020 fifth-round pick to Philadelphia, per the terms both clubs submitted to the NFL.

Report: Patriots hosting TE Matt LaCosse on free agent visit
ByTyler Sullivan 4 hours ago

The Patriots are in desperate need of adding some depth to their tight end unit in the wake of releasing Dwayne Allen and the veteran inking a deal with the Miami Dolphins. One person who could help fill out that part of the roster is former Broncos tight end Matt LaCosse, who is set to visit the Patriots on Thursday, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

LaCosse entered the NFL in 2015 as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois. He first signed on with the New York Giants, had brief stint with their crosstown rival Jets, and then returned to the club later in 2015 and remained in the Big Apple as a Giant through the tail end of the 2017 season. LaCosse was primarily a practice squad/reserve player for the Giants during his tenure with the club, but did breakout in 2018 with the Denver Broncos.

The 6-foot-6, 255 ponder was able to suit up in 15 games (five starts) for Denver in the wake of Jake Butt's torn ACL and totaled 24 receptions on 37 targets for 250 yards and a touchdown. This could be a solid addition for New England, especially with the uncertainty surrounding the guys on their roster currently.

Putting Rob Gronkowski to the side for a second: The Patriots have Jacob Hollister, Stephen Anderson and Ryan Izzo as the tight ends on the depth chart. While Hollister has shown flashes of potential, he has struggled to stay healthy throughout the course of his young career. Meanwhile Anderson was a practice squad player for most of last year, but does have some promise heading into 2019. With Izzo, New England drafted him in the seventh round out of Florida State last year, but missed all of his rookie season after being placed on IR in September.

LaCosse seems to fall somewhere slightly above Hollister and Anderson in terms of his status in the league thanks to his breakout in 2018. That said, there does seem to be a need for the Patriots to look even further at the tight end spot and get a more proven commodity, even if they do ink LaCosse to a deal.

As it stands with Rob Gronkowski, there is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding his NFL future. The tight end is still mulling retirement from the league over a month after New England was able to beat the Rams in Super Bowl LIII. At the time of that game, all the momentum was swinging in the direction of Gronk retiring, but the winds have seemingly shifted over the last few weeks as Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported this week that the Patriots are tentatively planning to have their star tight end back for 2019.

Yup. Not that I give a shit about the kneeling thing or players personal lives but he just comes off as a fucking asshole. That whole Vegas incident reeks like shit. That said, if he shuts the fuck up and we win games I'll be ok with it.

Yeah I am okay with the kneeling thing and my dad is pissed at me for that but I think he doesn't fully understands the truths behind it.

But I agree the dude just seems like a complete ass to me. But then again it's not like our owner is of high moral character too.

Patriots rumored to be among three teams interested in free agent wide receiver Golden Tate

The market for free agent wide receiver Golden Tate developed quietly over the last few days, but it sure looks like it is picking up as part of the second wave of free agency — and it looks like the New England Patriots are among the teams getting involved: according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the reigning world champions have expressed interest in acquiring the 30-year-old. This makes the Patriots one of three teams tied to Tate.

Rapoport also mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers as a potential club to watch when it comes to acquiring Tate’s services. The Steelers, of course, have a void to fill at the wideout spot after trading Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders earlier this week. Another team rumored to be in the market are the Dallas Cowboys (via CBS Sports’ Mike Fisher), even though they just recently brought back another wide receiver in Tavon Austin.

As for Tate himself, he mentioned earlier during the offseason that he “would love” to catch passes from Patriots quarterback Tom Brady at one point in the future. “That organization, they have proven to be champions year-in and year-out,” Tate told the Prostyle Podcast hosted by former NFL wide receiver Earl Bennett in February. “They work hard for sure, but you know where you’re going to be at the end of the season.”

“You’re going to be not only looking at the playoffs, but you’re looking at maybe a first-round bye with this team. You gotta admire that organization, they do things right, they’ve been doing it for a long, long, long time,” Tate continued. “I would definitely love being a part of something like that and catch a few passes from old Tommy Boy [...] I definitely would not mind going over there for sure.”

Tate, who was traded from the Detroit Lions to the Philadelphia Eagles midway through the 2018 season, is arguably the top wide receiver remaining on the market. This, of course, should bode well for him but it might also drive the price out of New England’s comfort zone. The Patriots, after all, are currently only $12.3 million under the salary cap.

Free-agent safety Terrence Brooks has signed a 2-year deal with the Patriots, per @AdamSchefter. Brooks (5-11, 196) has played for the Jets (2017-2018), Eagles (2016) and Ravens (2014-2015). Played in 65 career regular-season games. Known as a strong special teams player.

Patriots sign Matt Lacosse for the TE position. He is an ok player. Nothing special but will definitely get more opportunities with the Pats than he would have with the Broncos.
