I do both.
I forget what I remembered and remembered what I forgot, usually much too late to do or say anything about it.
But I remember and agreeing with Reb about staying as coach and giving up GM duties.
I also remember me saying that the game was passing him by and that a change was needed.
The media generally leads the charge. They get a ball of snow rolling and allow it to get so large that no one can slow it down. It continues to pick up speed until it hit a tree and explodes into a million pieces. No one can find the ball that started the monster.
Rarely does a coach accept a demotion. Especially when you look at all that Belichick has done to then come to him and say "Hey you are being demoted to now just head coach". There were already plenty of rumors that Belichick and Kraft were not seeing eye to eye on a lot of things so seemed like the divorce was a slow burn for a couple of years.
