My kind of petty
why wouldnt they?My kind of petty
why wouldnt they?
Rich Paul and LeBron are panicking sitting in the 9 seed and needed to try and shake the tree.
Think of how selfish you have to be as a player to come out in the middle of the season when you are going into games with your teammates and to do what Davis just did. Think of how disruptful that is to teammates and an organization to do this right in the middle of a season- when you still have AT LEAST 18 months still on your contract. To not even have the decency to wait until the season was over.
Its pretty scummy if you ask me.
Its rather transparent as well.
What kind of draft picks can the Rap's offer?Raptors going to get him if anyone does pre deadline. No one else has a package that comes close. Boston can compete in the off season or if they are willing to trade Kyrie.
What kind of draft picks can the Rap's offer?
No offense... but what you describe isn't a great package for a full rebuilding team.Siakam Jonas or Ibaka whichever they prefer and Wright or OG as well as picks which could be quite good if they don't wind up resigning AD and Kawhi.
There are quite a few options to make it work. Pascals value is very high. He already beat the Pelicans in the preseason as the Raptors feature player playing against AD and and a complete Pelicans squad sitting no one. Raptors sat most of their starters. He also fits seamlessly as a glue guy as he is an elite defender capable of defending 1 to 4 and some 5s.
Ibaka and Jonas both playing great too. Fit well with Siakam.

It seemed implied since "so many teams can offer more than the Lakers".
Fair, and true, enough. No offense... but what you describe isn't a great package for a full rebuilding team.
Jonas or Ibaka has relatively little value to a team at the bottom. Not sure the Pel's would be interested in "hoping that AD and Kawhi don't resign in Toronto", either... why rush into a trade now on such a hope when they can get a much better bidding war and much better picks later?
No, AD hasn't made that quite clear. But why the hell is Danny Ainge trading all those assets this summer for a player who is making quite clear that he doesn't want to stay in Boston long-term?
Okay, let's assume then that Rich Paul isn't doing everything behind the scenes to get AD to LAL and that he's still up for grabs to the right team. No, AD hasn't made that quite clear.
There has been a lot of wild speculation on this front, usually from unnamed "sources"...
... of course, that's not the same thing at
all.
I think the Celtics organization is pretty confident that Kyrie will resign.Okay, let's assume then that Rich Paul isn't doing everything behind the scenes to get AD to LAL and that he's still up for grabs to the right team.
You're still not 100% that Kyrie is staying. There is as much uncertainty there as there is with AD wanting LA and only LA.
The Celtics are only one aspect of this scenario, albeit a notable one.BBB said:So once again, if you're the Pelicans, why are you throwing all your eggs into the "Celtics will blow us away" basket? Is there not a better chance that a team will pay more today to get AD for 2 playoff runs? The best the Spurs could get for Kawhi in pretty much the same scenario was a B-level "star" pushing 30 and a big whose best-case projected to be a good bench piece. You don't think someone could beat that today in order to get AD for two playoff runs?

1) But why? What evidence is there to support that when another star player in a very similar situation was traded for much less than what people are throwing out there for AD just over 6 months ago?
- the bidding war for AD is likely to be better in the summer than it is now, irregardless of any specific team
- N.O. loses nothing by waiting. The Lakers would throw the kitchen sink at AD just the same in the summer as they would now
Wouldn't the team who wants him for two playoff runs be putting up their best package today rather than 6 months from now?It is hard to imagine a scenario where the Pelicans won't get better offers for AD in the offseason.
It's common sense, I guess... more teams are gonna be in the bidding pool during the offseason... notably, the Celtics who can theoretically make the best offer.1) But why? I don't follow you here.BBB said:2) This is assuming the Lakers would put together the best package today. Why is that the assumption?
AD is a top 5, maybe top 3, maybe top 1 player...What's the logic in paying more for less later?

Once again, you're gambling that the Celtics will be in a position to do so. If they lose Kyrie, there's no chance they're moving major assets for AD just to potentially lose him too in a year. It's common sense, I guess... more teams are gonna be in the bidding pool during the offseason... notably, the Celtics who can theoretically make the best offer.
The point I'm making is that I don't think LA is capable of giving them the best package either today or in the summer. It's not like Magic can go offer a 20% stake in his movie theatres in a trade for AD lolI don't follow you here.
Magic Johnson would push his mother in front of a bus if it meant L.A. gets AD... that's true in the summer same as it's true now.
