For years now I've been telling friends that if the Caps ever get through the 2nd round they will win the cup. There was a thread where some of our posters told tales of heartbreak pulling for the Caps season after season, well, here we go again!!
Will it be more of the same or do they finally break through?

Been a fan since year 1. Grew up 4 miles from Cap Centre and went all the time. My thoughts "here we go again ....." Expect the worst and hope for the best.

Further thoughts. Trotz was a bad hire, I have no faith in him. Holtby was bad in the playoffs last year, not a lot of faith here although I would give him a B+ on last series. We need scoring from other players. That worked out in the first series. It has to continue. Holtby has to play way for the team to win. I guess I am going to miss the 1st two games due to vacation. If the Caps are 2-0 while I am away I am going to take that as a sign and stay in NC. :pound:

brewer decided to use this as an excuse to pile on while standing on their grave with one leg simultaneously waving his liberal flag

Smug men who show only cursory concern for humanity cannot rinse off their deplorable stench.

not sure if its true ... but it sounds poetic

Is the WaPo still in business??? I thought they folded years ago. Do people still pay to read their drivel? I find that hard to believe.

its my belief newspapers & journalist play an important role in our society ...

and its probably why the founders decided to make that our first amendment right.

its up to the reader to discern the quality of the writer.

Oh, I agree with that. Its just the WaPo stopped being an independent reporter of the news many years ago. They are now an opinion paper, at best. Their readership has been in free fall for a while. They are very close to going under.

Journalism is supposed to report the facts. It isn’t supposed to influence thought and lead us to their conclusion.

you can find opinions on both sides ... if you look hard enough.

but i agree, journalist ... like college professors ... tend to come from the same ilk.

but i would not recommend folks stop reading or going to school just because the majority of professors & journalists are liberal.

and its not just the WaPo that has been struggling ...the industry in general has been losing readership since ted turner & the 24 hour news cycle.... because lazy people find it easier & faster to get their information mouth fed to them from video.

i am one of those people.

anyone old enough to remember morning & afternoon papers ?

the industry has gone through alot of changes.

but similar to the music industry ... they're figuring out how to monetize their product for the web. And i doubt there is any chance of them going under with the richest man on the plant backing them.

there will always be a demand for content ... so journalist wont be going anywhere & the necessity to keep the institution of the local paper is still a very important one.

I delivered (yes once upon a time they had kids deliver newspapers to houses) the Daily News which was an afternoon paper. I later got a better paper route which was the Washington Star (evenings and Sunday mornings.)

The 2nd two-thirds of my career has been in the print industry. It has been close to being like a TV repairman in the 60s. LOL I have been one of the lucky ones and have been able to stay employed. The paper is a dying business too. I think in a way there are more jobs open to writers than ever though with all the avenues there are to write. Evolve or get run over.

Unless, of course, it's an opinion/conclusion that's agreeable to us.:D:pound:

There are no "down the middle" journalistic publications anymore, not because they don't exist, unfortunately, they are only that when we agree with them. The WAPO is still a fine means of distributing information, but it's just one of many. Whatever happened to researching a story for ourselves and then cross checking the same from other sources? Have we, as a country truly become that lazy or are we so entrenched into our own world/political views, that other sources really don't matter?
