Because of shoulder inflamation? lol. He had just had a stretch where he went about a month with one of the lowest ERA's in baseball and a K/9 flirting with 10 in that time-span. He's already showed consistent ace-level stuff this year. That's all I wanted to see. This season was a huge victory for him.

Fulmer is the one who looks done for. He's been a total gas can this year... at every level.

it's all well and good to sit there and be all optimistic ... but it's not very realistic. obviously he may overcome these continuing problems (i certainly hope so) but if you aren't concerned then you aren't paying attention.

i'll assume you're talking about sale. there is nothing to complain about here. sox sucked with him ON the team. he did NOTHING to help the team win! he HAD to be traded for the future health of the team.
what i find disturbing is fans who put their "fav players" above the success of the team.

Sale is worth 12 or so additional wins in a season. You're kidding right? We had to trade him because we somehow destroyed relations with the guy. Stating he did nothing to help the team win and had to be traded is basically an after the fact approach of "ok, what do we do since we f*cked up" rather than just acknowledging that we f*cked up. You don't just lose all time great players. Furthermore, you don't say "you know, they weren't that good anyway." It's perfectly fine to be upset as a fan when your team loses one of the best players in baseball. Nothing disturbing about it.

We're seeing some positives at least.

Moncada is progressing offensively, as are Anderson and Davidson.

Giolito and Fulmer are throwing decent innings, establishing confidence at the MLB level.

The Burdi TJ surgery was unfortunate. I wonder if he will still be slated as the team's future closer.

It is nice we have some semblance of a farm/youth movement...It's been some time. Problem is I'm worried we're going to start falling into what I call the "Marlin Twilight Zone" where we farm great players and just as they start coming to fruition...They leave. I mean, if we do so and luckbox into a couple 'ships like the Marlins did, I'm cool...but not if we do it 21st century Twins style where it's just a carousel of coulda-shoulda-wouldaness with a side of broken hopes and dreams. I had enough of that with the Urlacher Bears.

Jerry Reinsdorf is an enigma man. If he smells a possible 'ship in a team, he's trying to make a big splash (many times at the expense of the future-ie why we're here right now). It's hard for me not to like him because moves we've made under him under circumstances where there is a chance to win big (for both Sox and Bulls), he's gone for it. But when the team is sh*t on a stick, we out muddaf*ckaaaasss-you can see him counting the dollars. It's hard for me to blame him there. It's definitely not ideal ownership because it doesn't provide any semblance of consistency, so we boom or bust big-which is why every time we make a playoff run it's like "ZOMG WE HAVE TO WIN NOW CUZ NEXT YEAR IS GONNA (fill in doomsaying here)......."

But there's also the underlying issue of baseball's financing is all f*cked up. The Sox have to kind of do it that way because they aren't the Cubs...Yankees...Red Sox where they just can back up the truck year after year after year.
So yeah, I find myself constantly defending Reinsdorf because our situation is just...odd, for lack of better words.

a bad team that holds onto one great player at the expense of the teams fortunes is also a stupid team (which the sox have certainly been). with the sox's situation they HAD to trade him. nothing they did before that was working! so cry all you want about the loss of your hero. doesn't change a thing.

well then, tell me what the sox could have "reasonably" done ... aside from spending 100's of millions on free agents ... which we ALL know they could never have done. exactly what was the answer?

on an aside, sale has a LONG way to go to be compared to johnson and it shows your inexperience to even suggest it. and ryan sucked. barely a .500 pitcher (tied for 560th ................ 560th!) and one of the most over-rated players in the game's history. plus he pitched for FOUR TEAMS! guess they were all stupid too huh? LMAO!
