He just looked awkward because he wasn't synced up with Brady, other than the TD which he almost came up with. Plus, he was being covered by Berry much of the game. Tough to see Berry with an achilles injury late.
so, you actually watched...some people are saying he was covered by a LBer all night. unreal.

he will be fine.

Now you know how I feel when random people tell me Patrick Chung owns Kelce and was covering him 1 on 1 in the 2015 playoffs.
a ball went right thru chungs hands.

like, right thru...tipped, still caught.

Alex Smith- the god of QB Winzzzzzz- was not to be denied his favorite WR.

Fun fact: The TD to end regulation in Denver last year was actually tipped by Jered Crick, Hill still caught it after bobbling it; Hill only scoring a TD because of said bobble; with a 2 pt conversion afterwards tying the game.

Hopefully for KC last night is a sign that Red is going to loosen the strings on the play calling . For years I've had to hear "Alex Smith can't throw deep" yet consistently when he's HAD to throw deep I've seen him do it . To me his lack of down field passes is solely a function of them simply not being called. With the playmakers KC has their offense should have those routes as a key part if it's offense

Alex can and does throw deep on occasion particularly when someone is wide open running downfield. Alex is just very risk averse. Doesn't like to throw into tight windows and usually chooses to checkdown instead.

What I will say is this about the Pats in all seriousness: Teams are going to run right at them if Hightower is hampered and/or out. That's a guy the Pats must have healthy this year for them to win the SB. I know that sounds like a very, very hot take, but I am really struggling to find who else on that front 7 is going to keep things under control in the running game with Sheard and Collins gone. Elandon Roberts needs to be a lot more visible going forward. Hunt can flat catch, but you can't tell me the Steelers aren't going to try to copy what the Chiefs did. DAT and Hunt both had gigantic openings downfield (the former led to the latter being called by Reid) out of the RB spot.

Van Noy is also unacceptable. I'd be looking on the trade market if possible if I were the Pats.

No coincidence the OL was playing very well on merit when Smith was going downfield. Was as comfortable as I've seen since the Indy playoff game several years back.

So - can't tell if Pats run defense sucks too or the Chief's rookie is the next Barry Sanders.

Combination, he looks like he belongs, nothing fluky about the way he runs and catches

Which could be good for the Pats that they will only face very few of that caliber

Thats my take

And its a hot one

How many teams run vertical routes out of the backfield with their RB's? I am not even aware of another team that does that outside the Chiefs with any consistency like they do. Steelers I'd have to think copy this.

Yes, at times last night he a big pocket without a defender anywhere near him. Alex Smith deserves credit for a really good game and New England really needs to fix their issues on defense. They aren't going to make it back to the super bowl with that type of defense trying to win shootouts every week

He's definitely not Barry Sanders. He could very well be their guy moving forward for years though. Need to see a few more games. Eagles next week could be a better barometer; their defense under Schwartz is steadily improving.

when bill went for it on 4th and 2 in indy in 2009 it was because he didnt trust his defense.

he did the same thing last night. me thinks he knew going in this D would give up a lot of points. its why he went for 4th and 2 last night.

Going to be interesting to see what happens. Eager to see if this OL for the Chiefs is for real. Eagles should be a great test for that.

Where's the hundreds of Brady's-all-washed-up posts we endured that last time Brady sucked against the Chiefs?

I'm surprised the pussy Hammerdown didn't come out from under his therapy couch.

Yeah that was impressive, even more impressive when you watch the replay from Smiths' perspective and how he just dropped that dime

I think you will see Mcaffrey do some interesting things in Carolina, but other than that, not many

Tough to blame Brady when his receivers weren't getting open. The offense looked largely out of sync.

Yeah, but less than a yard on both so dunno

What shocked me was that he didnt sneak Brady on either, I never see that big doofus get stopped on a sneak
