At the risk of going overboard after a few days of training camp, Aldon Smith looks dominant. Just put 250-lb FB Moran Norris on his back.

Colin Kaepernick, who also has been impressive, hooked up with WR Lance Long for a diving, 35-yard catch down the right sideline.

Aldon totally has me stoked. Considering he played most of last year with a broken leg, he's what 21 now?, was in Cali most of the summer working with J Smith and the guys shows his dedication - he may be the next cornerstone like P-Willie.

From Barrows
CB Phillip Adams (undisclosed) did not practice. Nor did Shawntae Spencer (hamstring), which gave Chris Culliver a chance w/ the 1st-team D.

Justin Smith (personal matter) was back at practice. Ahmad Brooks got dinged yesterday, which might be bad timing because ... (more)
... Aldon Smith has looked impressive the last two days. In addition to being physical vs. the run, he batted down a pass in O v. D drills.

I'm liking what I'm hearing about Aldon Smith. I didn't know much about him when we drafted him, so I was a little nervous. Let's hope he keeps improving all camp.

Same here. I was a little worried about the pick and it is still very early, but the reports so far sound pretty good for him. Definitely would be exciting to FINALLY have a pass rusher

Great news! I'm excited to watch him in the first preseason game. If he does turn into a beast we will have a pretty sick pass rush with J. Smith, Aldon, and Ray Mac.

I like that Harbaugh is not scared to get in there and practice with the team. Hands on is what our team needs.

I meant to ask this before. I've been keeping up with both M's training camp updates, but don't recall much mention of Ronald Johnson. Maybe one line saying was making a positive impression?

Anyway, could someone share the scoop on him, which I've apparently missed?

He was mentioned as running crisp routes and having strong hands, ripping a would be interception from Spencer's hands. He was also in a lot of the camp photo's making catches.

A bit mentioned about Rojo here:

"Ronald Johnson: Perhaps the most-impressive looking of the wideouts in the early days of practice. He and Kaepernick have hooked up on some deep corner routes. He has also been working as the deep man on kickoff returns."

Maiocco: Player-by-player look at 49ers offense

Can't see to find the other snippets that mention his play in camp.

Ah, thanks guys. I do remember the comment about being the deep guy on kickoffs. Well, those are certainly positive reviews so far. Hopefully he keeps it up, we could always use another option on the outside.

ESPN showed a stat last night on the productivity of SF WRs last year, and it was weak. Near the bottom in most categories, including only 121 catches (30th in the league I believe).
