WTF kind of logic is that? The trophy was named before Belichick coached.
Your opinion doesn't count because you are a Patriots homer.

5 NFL Championships and 2 Super Bowls.
So maybe they should've named the NFL Champ tropy the Lombardi. Just saying lots of coaches have 2 SBs and more.

Also Gibbs won 3 Super Bowls with 3 different QBs, none of them close to being HOL level players.
If he'd had Montana or Brady he would have likely won at least 1 more title, he left the game in his early 50s.

Yeah, he belongs on the list.

I went with Lombardi just ahead of Brown and Hoodie. He took garbage in Green Bay and turned them into a dynasty almost immediately... never had a losing season. He began the turnaround in DC, too, and then he died. I'm not going to dock him for dying. I think he was the greatest coach, motivator and leader who ever walked a sideline.

Actually the Super Bowl is just another name for the NFL Championship Game.

Your failed logic is beside that point.
I could have named Tom Landry the GOAT but I at least try to be objective unlike you New England homers.

The Pack would have crushed any of those pre-SB AFL champs just like they did to the Chiefs & Raiders in SB 1 & 2.

You are so right, that team was very dominant in that era.

Yes, we're homers because we voted BB. :rolleyes2: u never cease to amaze. BB is writting the record books as we speak. Comparing the eras is dumb first off. But if we must then BB is maybe even more so the winner.
Even if you want to count NFL, AFL or even AAFC championships you have to take into account the number of teams in each respective league, they played 14 game seasons. When they started a playoff system u played two games and if u won both you were the champ. No salary cap. No rules by the current NFL to try and ensure parity...
Look all the coaches mentioned were/are top notch. Being last on that list is still a feat in itself.

Lombardi made a dynasty but it was based on perfecting the execution of some key plays like the sweep and that was that. Football was simpler then and while you can say he deserves the name on the trophy, does that make him the greatest coach of all time? A lot of the other coaches mentioned had to deal with a lot more than that to succeed.

I'd add knowing how to get the most out of his players and putting them in situations where they could succeed. But what do you think the Pats success is based upon ? Really innovative and complex scheming ?
